Are there any must-read books related to software engineering?
Introduction to Software Engineering, 1st edition
About face.
Basically finished with beginner distros like ubuntu and mint. What should I move on to next? Don't think I'm ready for all that Gentoo/Arch entails.
>>51920817
doesn't matter, once you've learned enough about linux you'll end up with debian or centos(maybe fedora) anyway
i found fedora just as easy as mint and ubuntu. debian for me was just like ubuntu but with more added stress. desu arch isnt as hard as it seems. after the install its pretty smooth
>>51920855
they are all the same. and if you aren't legally retarded all are "easy".
the only reason why everyone ends with debian or centos is because it's stable and supported, so you won't have to deal with broken shit
Update to 64bit Firefox 43.0. Go on Jewtube. Can't because it seems my browser is

I didn't have a youtube problem but Firefox 43 is shit and keeps freezing for me. Downgraded back to 42 to test if that works or not
Poorfag here -- /g/ recommend me a good camera I can get for a decent price.
gopro cameras for video.
For pics, any android phone with a decent 13MP camera should be enough.
Secondhand older Canon DSLR like a 50D with a kit lense. Can be picked up for just a couple hundred bucks.
>>51920724
>couple hundred
OP is a poorfag. He didn't specify a price so ~$200 is his most realistic budget.
Why would anyone buy an AMD CPU?

So I made decision it is time to build a new PC. It will be used for some of my works as well as gaming. I decided to go with red/black color scheme beacause fuck it I like those colors.
Any suggestions?

"Do you really need this much RAM, this big SSD, this water cooling?" - Yes I work with shit tons of data I need lots of space and lots of speed to not grow fucking beard while working. Also I am planning to OC the CPU to squeeze every single bit of power.
Also any suggestions for G-Sync screens? I want to...

I would go for an i7-5820k instead of that 6700k. And two 980tis are such a waste. You only need one.
>>51920114
youre so fucking stupid
>>51920430
I am looking at it now, I could surely spare some money while keeping performance at same level.

Deepin is literally the best Ubuntu variant I've come across.
It actually works, has a software center with USEFUL software people use and a new interface that I find quite interesting. It's lightweight and suitable for laptop usage, and doesn't suck when coming to drivers or proprietary software.
Topped off with the familiarity of the apt-get package manager, I think that this is probably the best out-of-the-box you're going to get out of a distro, with maybe the exclusion of Mint.
Why not try it?

This is a public service announcement for all ProtonMail users.
After the huge DDoS attack that happened like 1 month ago all ProtonMail traffic is now proxied by a Israeli firm. Thats right, all the data is send through Israel.
Source: https://cryptome.org/2015/11/protonmail-ddos.htm
Also google it yourself if you dont belive me.
ProtonMails response to this:

Im leaving ProtonMail, it was good while it lasted, also spread the word.
Also i forgot to add this, ProtonMails response to Reddit:
>A lot of mis-information about this, with people seemingly not understanding how BGP redirection and GRE tunnels work. All traffic that passes through Radware is encrypted. Both encryption layers (SSL and ProtonMail's OpenPGPjs) are intact in this solution. That's why we picked BGP redirection instead of something like Cloudflare where we would have to turn over SSL keys.
So Radware has access to no new information that your ISP wouldn't already have since they...

So I'm going to throw out a bunch of 'hypotheticals'.
Say, hypothetically, that I live in a gaming house of five people and we all play competitive gaming. CS:GO, LoL, WoW PvP, SC II, etc. We all suck, but we all want a nice internet connection for this Christmas.
Each of us can chip in up to $75 for a maximum of $375 available budget.
I've been doing some r3se4rch and think that a modem and router is better than a 2-in-1 M/R combo. Is this true?
What kind of gear should we be looking at?
I found some on amazon but can't...

I don't know anyone that uses a separate modem and router any more aside from in network oriented homelabs. Just get a decent router, check your cabling is good and realise that the bottleneck is almost certainly between you and your ISP.

Why aren't you using Ethernet?

So I'm trying to download this file. When I download it through FF, it freezes at about 1%, and Chrome freezes at 3%. The FF or Chrome apps do the same. I tried MegaSync, but it freezes at about 9%. This isn't the first file I've had this problem with -- pretty much anything over 400 MB will freeze before it finishes. I tried reclicking the download link, but that only unfreezes it for about 5 seconds before it freezes again.
Is it something with my computer, with mega, or both?

Not OP, and serious question:
What's the good alternative?
>>51918439
maybe you only have 400 mb free diskspace op
