It came from this issue: https://github.com/codeinthedark/editor/pull/1

The guy actually made a full-fledged addon for Atom: https://atom.io/packages/activate-power-mode

I want this to activate when you start typing really fast or something... Imagine getting into the zone.

Linux can look nice without too much effort; some hipsters want to use outdated DEs or "rice" their desktops with unnecessary anime.

I'm getting a 27" IPS, should I go with LG or Acer?

LG's flicker safe sounds nice, but I'm much more concerned about the panel and backlight quality. Does one have better QA than the other?

IPFS general - threads keep dying edition.
We got shitloads of roms across many platforms now, neat!

What is IPFS?
A fully decentralized, distributed and encrypted file distribution platform.

>why would one use it
* Distributed and decentralized: no single point of failure, censorship-resistant.
* You can have a mutable address (i.e. always points to the latest version of a site), or a static address (points to a specific file). Yes, you can host sites over IPFS.
* Peers are found fast for new downloads. You don't need to wait that much to start a download.
* You can watch your animu while it downloads, I watched few episodes that way and it didn't even buffer.

Presentation of ipfs by its lead designer:

dFrFKBNmgdUKFdss8/Stanford%20Seminar%20-%20Juan%20Benet%20of%20Protocol%20Labs.webm
(over ipfs)

>how to upload a single file
$ ipfs add ./$file
Access it at localhost:8080/ipfs/$outputted-hash
>how to upload a dir
$ ipfs add -r ./$dir
Access it at localhost:8080/ipfs/$last-outputted-hash
>how to make the thing mutable
$ ipfs name publish ./$file-or-dir-hash
Access it at localhost:8080/ipns/$output-hash-aka-peerid (it's ipNs not ipFs)
To update, publish another hash and it will be available at the same IPNS address.

>gateways (how to access IPFS if you don't have it installed)

Add an ipfs url at the end to use them.

Wake up, /g/! ipfs is the future! Stop using your deprecated torrents and archaic HTTP! Will you really let the future down? Are you not tired of the cancer that spreads through technology? IPFS's time is NOW!
>>
Guess its all over then, the future is ruined. HTTP forever, decentralized, distributed networks never, high speeds and independence from the botnet will never come to you unless you post in this thread.

>close button doesn't close
>maximize button doesn't maximize
>minimize button minimizes, but only sort of: for some reason it places the preview near the trashcan in the dock and the preview is static (unlike on windows). Also if you choose to minimize windows into app icon, you will no longer have previews of any kind and it causes a bug (present in 10.11.1) with activity monitor (when it won't open after you "close" it with close button)

Who designed this and why is this allowed?
22 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
>Close button closes window rather than the entire program.
>Maximise button puts the application until full screen mode rather than useless extending the sides to fill the screen.
>Minimize button sends the instance of the running window into a background state while leaving a readily accessible button to restore the window on the ever-present docking system.

Which genius designed this and can I suck their dick?

Sup /g/. This is my first time building a PC and I'm trying to build a decent gaming PC for around $400 + the cost of a monitor and keyboard. After researching shit I've got this build which seems pretty decent.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/pxxjdC

Any advice/recommendations would be appreciated. First time building my own PC and could use any advice I can get. Would like to keep the entire thing under $550, don't have much more leeway than that.

>Apple removes analog output from iPhone 7 in 2016. Headphones must be either blue tooth, have a lightning plug, or use the adapter.
>2025
>Lightning and other digital audio outputs become the standard for all audio connections
>No new hardware comes with analog audio outputs, only digital.
>All digital connections have DRM built-in.
>Apple Music becomes the only streaming music service and is more than $100 monthly.
>All audio devices have DRM which will only play content from Apple Music service.
>Will only play AAC files with 320kbps quality - uncompressed AIF files will cost an additional fee.
>Attempting to play MP3 files will cause the built-in codec to artificially downgrade the quality much like the Sony ATRAC codec did in the early 2000's. Also, MP3 files must be attached to a single sign-in and must be connected to the cloud for verification every time they are played.
>There will be no way around this as the hardware and operating systems will be able to block any analog hole. No company will keep analog audio outputs on their computer as they will be unable to play music from Apple Music or any other program using the analog hole due to extra DRM in new Apple and Windows OS versions.
>Blue tooth will have the same DRM.
>All adapters will have the same DRM.

>Even with the subscription price, there will still be advertisements (much like cable TV that used to have no ads and is now horrific).
>Must listen to a certain amount of unmutable ads to play music. The more ads, the more music OR a higher bitrate.
>Smart phones will have become the defacto "computer" at this point anyway and they are infinitely easier to cripple and control.
>BUT MUH LINUX!? If still alive, you may be able to make your own Raspberry pi like audio player for MP3 files, but this will be such a niche market that the RIAA won't care.
>The RIAA will only be pushing one analog option...

Acer laptop. Windows 8, start up, says to choose a bootable device. Nothing to choose. Pressing F8 repeatedly on start up, "no bootable device, press any key to continue", back to the previous thing. Can access BIOS, but Idk what to do.

My question is. The fuck do I do? How do I boot shitty windows 8 on this shitty laptop?

Thanks

Hey /g/, why haven't you switched to OpenNIC yet?

OpenNIC is an open, gratis, and democratic alternative to ICANN. As a DNS provider, most OpenNIC servers do not log requests, and a large portion of the servers also support dnscrypt. With complete DNS neutrality, OpenNIC is censorship resistant and never hijacks your requests.

Besides doing standard DNS services for the ICANN namespace, OpenNIC also provides their own Top Level Domains such as .chan, .pirate, .oss, .gopher, and more. OpenNIC domain registration is completely gratis too. OpenNIC also supports Namecoin and New Nations domains.

>I'm interested in OpenNIC, where can I find out more?

https://www.opennicproject.org/

>How can I configure my DNS to use OpenNIC?

https://www.opennicproject.org/configure-your-dns/

>.chan? What's that?

.chan is an OpenNIC Top Level Domain for imageboards and related communities. To find out more, go to http://chandns.net/

>I've just configured OpenNIC for the first time? Now what?

Try http://bithunt.bit or http://grep.geek to search OpenNIC.

>What imageboard should I check out?

http://wer.chan is probably the best one on OpenNIC right now.

>What about file uploading?

http://upload.chan provides 64 MB per file, and right now is storing files permanently.

>Anything funny?

http://onii.chan is good for a chuckle.
>>
So, /g/. Let's hear what DNS servers you do and what configurations you have set up.
