Aftermarket 980ti or reference 1070?
aftermarker 1070
>>54880119
Aftermarket 1070 you impatient fuck. You have to be legitimately braindead to consider buying the Fanboy edition at extra cost to yourself.
>>54880132
any idea how far out those are?
Will AR be the next step in tech?
Why buy monitors when you could have something like this set up?

People like cake, do you not?
I don't know if this is the right board to post it in, but here goes. I'm looking to enable write protection on this USB drive, what's the right pin and what do I do with it?

It could be random posters.
What is a good brand for a desktop? I'm getting one for my house but I don't want to waste to much money so I'm getting a used one. What could be a good brand for used desktops?
What are things I should get on it (as in how much RAM and the rest need in computers of 2016). I'm really out dated
Same, bumping for interest. I'm gonna need a desktop soon after years of laptops. Prebuilt because I know nothing about putting one together myself, and don't want to make an expensive mistake.
Back in the day Dell was the go-to brand. Still the case?
>>54879717
It's like legos, seriously. Takes maybe an hour if you're really dumb. Less if not.
Dear /g/,
My sister is running off to Cambodia to teach English. Setting aside the issues of her foolishness and my failure as a brother, I want to set her up with some tech before she leaves. She was thinking of dropping 500$ on a tablet, but I talked her out of that stupidity and she's on board with getting set up with a refurbished laptop running a GNU/Linux distribution.
My plan is to hook her up with a refurbished X220/230 convertible (350 CAD) running xubuntu, an encrypted drive, tor, and a multiboot stick with xubuntu (for recovery), and tails (in case she needs to commandeer someone else's PC). I have no experience with tails, so I could be completely off base with that.
Could you guys offer me some other suggestions for tech to give to a normie before they fuck off to Southeast Asia? I plan to give her a README for all this shit. What should I put in it? Can you offer me some other suggestions so that she can always get in touch with me?
>>54879351
>GNU/Linux distribution
why?
>>54879368
Because windows is for faggots, faggot.
>>54879351
If she's stupid enough to go to cambodia to teach english, what the fuck makes you think she cares about
>muh M$ botnet
you're projecting your insanity onto her

"Every time a malicious program—say, a script on a website you visit—runs a certain, obscure command, that capacitor cell “steals” a tiny amount of electric charge and stores it in the cell’s wires without otherwise affecting the chip’s functions. With every repetition of that command, the capacitor gains a little more charge. Only after the “trigger” command is sent many thousands of times does that charge hit a threshold where the cell switches on a logical function...

What idiot wrote this? And stupid people will parrot this as if it makes any sense.
Suppose I wan't to know if a l33t haxxor tried to connect to my server, which logs do I need to watch often and which logs are less important? And I guess not every distro is the same, so what's the difference?
My guess there is some good hack (in the correct use of the word) to create a very logged system, I wonder if /g/ has a knowledgeable anon to tell how.
You need to ship your logs off the box for any real effectiveness. Otherwise watch wtmp btmp secure
>>54878960
I've heard every big company is does that without a question. Not sure if they use plain syslog for that.
>>54878936
Or you could just, you know, have a script that watches logs for intrusions...
>founder's edition card is $700
>the EVGA FTW with out of the box better clocking and a custom cooler is $660
Why the fuck would anyone buy the more expensive reference card? Really what were they thinking.
>>54878886
But goyim! It's founder's edition! FOUNDER'S EDITION! Look at the sharp edges!
We don't think "reference card" really does our reference card justice. Purchasers of the exclusive Nvidia GeForce™ GTX 1080 Founder's Edition were able to experience the game The Way It Was Meant To Be Played™ before you for only a small fee of only 699 USD. When our partners at EVGA™ release their aftermarket high power For The Win™ video cards, you can purchase them as well, allowing you to play your game The Way It Was Meant To Be Played™ again, for only 659 USD. What are you, poor? Go buy AMD.

Do you use a phone case why/why not?%
As soon as a buy a new phone i buy a case but i end up wearing it for a week then taking it off
Yes, because it's a $700 glass sandwich.
i like rugged look and the stand is pretty cool
This is my first post ever on /g/, hello from /b/. So I've been programming a game in Java on my phone for about, oh, 2 1/2 months now. It's 3658 lines now, and it's simply a text-based, command prompt RPG featuring a store, quest line (9 total bosses), and is a 6x6 grid of 36 different areas. The goal is to find the Catacanook Treasure, and there are different classes to choose from as well as a newly added tutorial.
Here is the link to my game in a zipped folder on Dropbox with a .png map and a README text file:

I seriously doubt I would EVER put this much time and effort into a bait if it was a bait. Like, you're way more than welcome to open the Launch.bat in a text file and see that it's literally just the command necessary to run the .jar in a command prompt window.
I just want to change my wallpaper is that too much to ask?

Because he stands up for what he believes in. Even if that means standing up for a lost cause.
He reminds us that no matter how pointless or stupid our lives seem to others they still merit value and that we should strive to achieve our goals and dreams even if that means watching chinese cartoons and installing gentoo all day long.
