I use BlackPlayer. It's kind of shit to navigate and change what you're currently playing, but it is actually quite intelligent, downloading photos of the band/artist as well as a bio. Pretty feature rich, and not too heavy on permissions.

I just cannot fucking stand the default player, it's basically an integrated store that also plays music. I just want something simple like the iPhone music player, something that isn't a store, and doesn't require every permission under the sun.

I was given a Late 2010 Macbook Air 13" by my sister today, as she just got a new one. She didn't explain to me she spilled hot wax on the keyboard, giving me about an hour of cleaning on the computer. When I started it up, this image is present, and nothing else is possible. What do I do /g/?

>windows 10 brings bash in
>"Literally no reason to use Linux now"

I'm dual booting with Windows 10, and I'm actually thinking of going linux only solution now. I used to dual boot because of games (my computer at the time was shit and performance on windows was better than on linux)
but now that I've got a below average tier computer, performance should be better.

Is there a legitimate reason to keep Windows?

besides the vidya gaymen, no, not really. 99% of everything the average user is ever likely to do works fine on Linux or has a good alternative.

What about kdenlive or openshot

>Microsoft recognizes that while developers today might run Windows or Mac (or maybe Ubuntu) on their desktop, inevitably those end up spending much of their time in a Linux shell. Before this new feature of Windows 10, Windows users would need to run a VM (resource hungry), ssh to a cloud instance (requires connectivity), or fiddle around with Cygwin (hacky, slow). With this new feature, a Windows user simple presses the Windows start key, and types "bash" or "ubuntu", and they end up in a rich, Ubuntu shell, with access to all of Ubuntu and most of the entire world of apt, running natively, without virtualization or recompilation."

>"It's well known that Ubuntu is the most popular Linux distro in Azure and other clouds. A native Ubuntu shell built directly into the Windows desktop just makes it that much easier to write code using Visual Studio, vim, or emacs, and then push it to a cloud instance with git, scp, or rsync, and vice versa. Obviously, many of those cloud instances will be Azure Ubuntu instances."

>"Here, we're talking about bit-for-bit, checksum-for-checksum Ubuntu ELF binaries running directly in Windows."

>A team of sharp developers at Microsoft has been hard at work adapting some Microsoft research technology to basically perform real time translation of Linux syscalls into Windows OS syscalls. Linux geeks can think of it sort of the inverse of "WINE" -- Ubuntu binaries running natively in Windows. Microsoft calls it a "Windows Subsystem for Linux".

Why does everyone on /g/ seemingly hate Windows 10 so much? I genuinely think it's a good product. All the silly rumors about spyware/botnet are straight up lies created by idiot paranoids.

Windows 10 is the safest operating systsem on the market today, with features like smartscreen filter, applocker, cloud-based windows defender, and an improved updates system that ensures no computer stays unpatched and vulnerable.

Additionally, the whole telemetry paranoia is off the charts. They doesn't any personal info and it's only used to fix the bugs. Would you rather give one of the oldest and most reputable American software companies a small bit of info on how you use your computer, or would you rather help provide your entire identity and all your files to cybercriminals?

There is also a lots of other good improvements in Windows 10 like the new Edge Browser, built in appstore, memory compression, DirectX 12, and Cortana assistant. So many good things in Windows 10 but elitist idiots stick to 10 year old windows 7 saying its safer and better. LOL its 2016. Please tell me im not the only person here with even the slightest sense of rationality.

So I got these Yamaha HS80M monitor speakers that I inherited. I'd like to hook them up to my rig, but they have XLR and 1/4" connectors.

Any recommendations on USB or optical audio interfaces with an XLR or 1/4" L/R audio out?

I spend few years using linux "for fun" but I seriously lack network skills.

I want to learn the basis so it can be a plus when I'm looking for jobs offers.

As for network, I can only do extremely simple things like
whois ping dnslookup
.

I still live in a dorm and there's a firewall.
There's also a firewall in my university network.

I want to try for example to let my computer turned on in my room and access it on my campus via ssh but I have no idea where to start.

Do you know courses / tutorials which provide practical examples?

I tried to read some pdfs and attended two classes on the subject but it was either too abstract (just plain talking) or only obscure details so I ended up learning nothing useful.

Also, pls stop asking for cheap keyboards with a budget of $50 or less.
Either spend $120 on a nice keyboard now, or spend $70 on a nice budget board and you'll inevitably spend $40 on replacing the shitty stock caps.

If I were Sony, I'd be seriously looking at getting rid of the Blu-ray drive and making it a USB 3.0 accessory for the next console refresh.

And considering that Microsoft hates physical games, I wouldn't put it past them either.

This would also give them extra space to put in a 3.5" HDD for better storage capacity and faster access.

What do you guys think Sony/MS will do from an engineering standpoint? I know that the new Polaris architecture is going to have an effect on the refreshes

After doing a lot of research I came upon the Shure SE215 which seemed to be not only extremely well sounding earphones - but also well built and comfortable.
However every time I looked up threads on the Shure SE215s the top comment was mostly about how some other headphone is better.
I've managed to narrow it down to the three most mentioned and raved about headphones

1. RHA MA750i - $130
2. Shure SE215-$100
3. VSONIC GR07 Bass Edition - $130

A lot of people claim that the RHAs sound quality are vastly superior to the SE215. However I am used to using $30 earphones and having to replace them every year because they break. So the durability and comfortability of SE215 is very enticing for me.

1. Are the MA750i (of even the GR07BE) that much better sounding then the SE215 that they are worth the extra $30 and loss in comfort?

2. One of the SE215's biggest selling points are their build quality. Are the other IEMs similar in which they can survive for over 3 years and be pretty much abused the whole time? I really don't want to buy $130 earphones only to have to buy new ones after a few years.

If it makes a difference I pretty much listen exclusively to rap/ hip-hop

I can't speak for the other ear buds but have owned the 215s and can speak on their behalf.

They're fantastic for hip hop/ whatever you would classify Kanye as because his music (specifically good morning) sounds better than any other track I've listened to with them.

However, if you like folk/indie rock bands like bon Iver or drew holcolmb, they're super mediocre.

In terms of build quality- it's pretty fantastic, and their isolation is their biggest selling point imo. I've walked along a main road before and not heard cars driving past me even with the music at around 75% of max
>>
Have you tried Viper4android? That shit made my 20$ jblt100a earphones sound godlike can't imagine any head/earphone sounding better
>>
>durability
Good chance that the left driver for the SE215 will break 2 years into usage. I don't know why but it's always precisely the left one, and only after 2 years.

Usually within the warranty period though.

I've had my SE215s since 2013, no problems other than that. These shits are hard to break.

No, because people getting bored of one another is perfectly natural and healthy. It happens to everyone, though straight women break up for it far more often because men like their easy access to the fug.

Love is just an abstract concept. It doesn't really exist, but we like to pretend it does.

Just bought a new gpu (MSI GTX 960) and after installing it when I turn the pc on, the screens turns black and can't even access the bios. How can I fix it?
