>The majority of /g/ still uses Windows
Why?
There is no reason to use the Windows operating system in 2016. If your employer is forcing you to use proprietary software, you should seek an alternative or find a new job; they are oppressing your individual freedoms.

Web developer using meme.js

I guess, I only got the job last month
>Is there anything you would rather do?
Working remotely would be nice rather than going to the office every day.
>Do you get enough of the things you want from life (money, girls, work/life balance, etc)?
Money = nice, I earn more than median wage for my country which is good for an entry level...

I was a web dev for 18 months. I quit because it was pissing me off, now I'm NEET and wondering what the fuck to do.

At the time I was pissed off with it but maybe it's not so bad... I guess there is money in it.

Just bought a Mac mini
How fucked am I?
Could you repeat the question?
I sure hope you bought the 8GB version, because you can't upgrade RAM on the Haswell Mac Mini's.

I think the right question is whom you'll be getting fucked by from now on.
Hey guys so I was trying out Windows 10 Enterprise, but where is the option to completely disable the telemetry? I thought Enterprise edition let you disable it completely, setting it to "off."
microsoft knows whats best for you. besides you need to help win 10 improve

This thread was created to prevent anons from spamming new threads, for technology questions they have.
If you are that person, post your simple/small/stupid questions here
Don't bump. This is a slow board, and will continue to be. Wait for an answer or google it.
If you see other anons posting questions outside this thread, ignore or redirect them here
Use >>>/g/sqt as a link to find the sqt thread
Didn't get an answer last thread. Roughly how much should I charge when creating an Android application for a small/medium company in the UK?
I can't tell if my PSU or GPU is dead, and I don't have another PSU/GPU/PC or a multimeter to test with.
BUT, I do have one little clue which could indicate which part is fucked:
If I start the computer without the video card connected (just CPU, RAM, motherboard, CPU HSF and power supply, mouse and keyboard) the computer will boot normally and give 8 BIOS beeps (GPU error, since the GPU is missing).
However, if I put the video card back in, I don't get any BIOS beeps at all and even more bizarrely, the mouse and keyboard don't light...

it is my plan upon arrival in Deutsches
Reich to challenge the prosecutor, Jürgen Pfeiffer, to a trial by
combat. Judicial combat is a Germanic traditional way of settling legal
disputes in use in the Middle Ages. It hasn't been in use on German land
since the Holy Roman Empire in the 16th century, but seeming how we're
apparently bringing back the Stasi, one more throwback couldn't hurt

Does anyone actually use Linux as a desktop OS in the professional world?
>>53793880
At least my current employer, my last employer and most of their clients did.
A professor of mine who works at LHC uses gnu/linux, and according to him the team he's in uses gnu/linux for running their data analysis framework (root, it was originally made especially for the LHC experiment)

Pretty much yes.

Welcome to /fg/lt/, or as I've recently taken to calling it, /fg+lt/. We are always open to users of all levels, including absolute beginners.
There are four ways to try GNU/Linux, you can:
0) Install a GNU/Linux OS on a VM (Virtual Machine/VirtualBox) for "safety purposes"
1) Use the Live ISO directly without installing anything, that way, you can get a "full GNU/Linux experience".
2) Dual-boot GNU/Linux with Windows/Mac (recommended if...

I'm so stupid. I've been compiling debian-sources on funtoo for an hour even though I already had it installed by default. ;-; Besides, I want a newer kernel than this anyway
help /flt/ gnome is kaput
Pretty much every other WM/DE works but GNOME, the one I want to use, just goes to a screen that says "Oh no something has gone wrong" with a logout button.
I've spent the better part of five hours trying to fix this but nothing works.
Arch Linux. What do?
My rxvt-unicode journey has ended. Once I was done, I realized that there were no gains or advantages over my old xfce4-terminal.

Sadly, AMD will stomp Nvidia with this concept, their gpu's run so much hotter.
>one thousand four hundred and ninety five dollars
Yeah nope. It looks like it could be a cool item or could be complete hype. If it works as advertised I'd definitely consider dropping perhaps half of the asking price, at a real push. At the $500 mark plus "it actually works" reviews I'd probably pick one up.

I just got called by one of these folks in india
I just hung up on them but I definitely want to fuck with them if they give me a call back
Will they even bother calling me back if I hung up?
>>53793614
If you answered but didnt respond with anything that would make them think you know what you're talking about, they will probably call again in a day or so
>>53793646
yeah the dude just said "hi I'm with whatever blah blah computer support yadda yadda" and I hung up without saying anything
I was going to say something dumb like "go molest your kid pajeet" or some racist thing but then I remembered that there have been some truly monumental recordings of people absolutely destroying these faggots so I just hung up and came here
>>53793614
You can always prepare in case another one calls you.
Set up a VM to give them access to. Put whatever you like in it. Maybe even some viruses.
Even better if you get something that would be able to cross back to them.
If you're banned from a forum across all devices regardless changing your IP (restarting your router) is that definitely an IP range ban?
