Been using 16:10 for 10 years now. Tried switching to 16:9. Fucking hated it. I never realized how important that extra inch on the top and bottom really are.
>>
>>53796455
16:9 if there is a chance I will be consuming video on the device
taller ratios in all other cases
>>
Never experienced 16:10, but 16:9 has not been pleasant for me.

Switched to Android from my iphone 5 some time ago but I still cant get used to the fact that android needs 3 buttons to do what the iPhone does with one.

I miss dat one button minimalism. Why so many buttons?

Tails removed .iso download links from their site because they thought their users were too stupid to verify a gpg signature.

They replaced it with a browser extension that downloads it and does the verification for you (It tests a SHA256 hash of the binary which it downloads from the browser extension authors site instead of doing a gpg web of trust verification).

The author of the extension itself is Giorgio Maone who "is sorry for inserting obfuscated malware into NoScript, which let ads/scripts pass through tens of thousands of its users filters" and promises he wont do it again: https://archive.is/HFYjp https://adblockplus.org/blog/attention-noscript-users

Why is tails punishing its users (just because some people didn't bother to check a gpg sig)?

Why did they hire such an untrustworthy person for the job?

Why are they encouraging users to allow them code execution instead of just providing the .iso as a normal link? The alternative is to download it with bittorrent which exposes your IP to the swarm.

Great move for enforcing sane verifying. NoScript has been in use in with TBB and Tails so if you are not trusting Maone, you can't trust Tails and you should stop there anyway.

Java is the real patrician language.
The reason plebs hate it is because they are forced to take programming classes, even though they don't want to become programmers (let's say a Math major, or a CS major who wants to become sys admin, for example, or a CS major who just wanted to make muh games), and then project their hate of programming onto Java.

Once you actually use Java for a while, you see how great it really is, most people fail because they don't have what it takes.

Not even baiting.

Sort of going in the opposite direction most of this thread goes, but what sort of Desktop Environment do you guys think would work best with VR? Assuming Linux support is eventually implemented, of course.
A lot of people here seem to use their keyboard as their primary method of getting around, but I almost think the opposite, dumb-baby Windows 8 way would be preferable. Big dumb icons instead of text, going through everything with the mouse or a controller (my keyboard broke 4 months ago so I've started to use a 360 controller for everything. Surprisingly not bad if you're a NEET with no friends to message) and just a general massive clutter of elements instead of the usual super-compact deal everyone has going on here.

Kana should never be something that is a "big deal" to focus on.
Pro-tip: If someone tells you something is "important," then all it means is that it's something you'll encounter a lot and therefore will get more than enough practice with by just focusing on reading and interacting with the language. If it doesn't come up enough when you're reading then it's obviously not "important."

Yes, we know everything is already from China but in here we discuss the no/low-name cheap shit you see on eBay, AliExpress and similar sites.

I kinda want something fresh, maybe something like a black macbook with windows on it so I can work on it. Bootcamping windows would be problematic I think with some software.

Closest I can think of is the XPS 15, but specs are a lil underpowered for my taste.

What is the collectible value of these things, /o/? Is it likely they will appreciate in value throughout the next decades? Would there be any practical purpose in having one around other than just being a neat collectible?
