placing the reset button so close to a port is idiotic. but in a production environment one doesn't typically use cables with protective boots. you typically use self terminated cables which often don't utilize protective boots due to cost overhead.
in production environments fancy cables are not typically used anyways. just standard cables that meet the cabling standard required.

Hey there technolo/g/ists, I come to you with a request. Let's assume someone got hired at a startup as QA and they need to start building up skills. They had not been owned a computer until 1 year ago and never used them for much besides dank memes.
Now this person has a lot to prove with a big boy job working with computers and will eventually have to become more knowledgable so they decide the best way to learn is to make a project. The skills needed are: HTML/CSS, Angular, basic SQL, and Ruby. Are there projects this noob can do to teach themselves all these skills at once? Can they be learned toghether by building a website or do they have to be learned separetely?
Is it hopeless?

Find WinSplit Revolution 11.04. Lets you configure shortcut keys to quickly move windows to different positions. Like the Windows 8 (7?) and higher snapping, but way more powerful.
For example, I have the keys around home row configured so that, for example, Ctrl+Alt+U snaps the window to the upper, left. Not only that, but pressing it repeatedly cycles between 50% screen width, 33%, and 25% screen width.

Why don't services just encrypt their whole database, rather than just the user passwords?

Passwords are (or at least, should be, unless you're retarded like Adobe) hashed, not encrypted
Transparent database encryption is a thing, but it only really works against scenarios where the attacker is in possession of the physical media/a backup of the database, but not the key that was used to encrypt it. Most database compromises occur in the form of SQL injection, and since the attacker can just query for your data, you're fucked regardless.
