Fuck. I've been using VLC forever. Why do I keep torturing myself like this? The interface really isn't that great, and it's aggravating to customize it because there's too many options spread out everywhere.

Really?

And the damn thing is modal!

Sup /g/

picked this up off a buddy of mine from work for ~500rds of Russian ammo (x39 and x54r).

>Dell Poweredge 2950
still need to confirm specs. pretty sure it has x4 Intel Xeons.

>Dell Ultrasharp 2405FPW 24" monitor

>2x Fujitsu 15K SCSI drives (73GB and 146GB)
no SAS Caddy

>6x Seagate Cheetah 15K drives (3x 146GB, 3x 73GB)
>4x Maxtor Atlas 10K 300GB drives
>1x Seagate Cheetah 10K 300GB drive
with SAS drive caddy

>Windows Server 2003 and 2008 installer discs with multiple license keys

I think I got a pretty great deal. What should I do with it? I haven't even powered it on yet.

Sell it; the power required to run that thing for a year would help pay for something faster and cheaper to run.
>>
>>53546549
there's no way I plan on running this thing for any amount of time. I mainly grabbed it as something like a lab machine, for me to teach myself some Sysadmin stuff on my own.

Haven't spent a good amount of time really working in Server 2k8.

Ok /g/, it's time to end all "what's the best OS" debate. We will design our own kernel. We will target x86-64 architecture.

1) What programming language should we use?
2) What should be in the kernel, and what should be in userspace?
3) What should be the recommended filesystem?
4) Bonus: name it.

Backward compatibility, and compatibility with [muh favourite software] is not the question. Imagine, if no software exists except the bare minimum to develop the desired OS, and x86-64 is brand new, nothing have been cross-compiled to it.

I'm almost 24 and I have no work experience, just student projects and a couple of my own projects I did in free time (mostly everything in C++). I realize I'm pretty fucked compared to my peers with over a year of experience, but I don't wanna be a NEET when I finish school. I'm an alright programmer, but I'm a failure at life.

How should I go around looking for a job? I'm reading Cracking the Coding Interview and it had some good tips so far. Most companies in my city offer a job in C# or Java, that I know some basics of both of them, should I even try to apply for that or is it a waste of their time? Are employers willing to let me learn some stuff as I go along or do I have to have a good grasp of it already? Or maybe I should just lower my standards and aim for any job opportunity, even an unpaid practice?

Also, what do they mean when they list "good knowledge of .NET" in the requirements?

Feel sorry for you then, anon. Idk, I just searched on jobs site and went to interviews.

>Google has doubled its “jackpot” for any hacker who can crack one of its Chromebooks. The top prize now stands at $100,000 after no one managed to successfully hack the laptops the last round.

Video games suck.
>>
Releasing video games as free and open source is pretty much inadvisable unless you hate money.

Even if you do the sane thing and license the framework/engine as GPL while keeping your game assets copyrighted/creative commons/whatever, nobody is going to use it because it was built for your specific game.

If you were to release the whole thing as free software, assets and all, there's nothing stopping Pajeet from recompiling your game and putting it on the play store himself.
>>
A lot of games from GOG have GPLv2 licenses
