Are vidyo gaymes and gaymin in general the cancer killing technology? Its their fault we are wasting technological resources on useless shit like video cards, 'moar ram' and 'moar cores', instead of focusing on quality and actual innovation. Thank good with have companies like Apple that don't think like that.

Why is Gentoo a meme and Arch supreme?

If you've got an i7 it compiles just as fast as Arch installs.

It's also easier to compile than Arch because it does it automatically.

It also has a better wiki.

Arch NEETs couldn't figure out how to install Gentoo so they went with Arch instead.
Arch isn't actually supreme, they've just convinced themselves so to cope with their own incompetence
>>
>>53541498
Arch is pretty great actually. I like being bleeding edge without bloatware.
>>
>>53541427
I don't know. I installed Gentoo twice and was disappointed both times. It's not like it's horrible or anything, but it's kinda like getting a pet and realizing you don't want the responsibility of taking care of it.

/g/ confession thread, share what you've been shamefully holding back

>I regularly enjoy watching LinusMemeTips
>I bought an XFX R9 390 over a Sapphire one that would've been cheaper because I didn't know anything at the time
>I use both my GPU and integrated graphics to run one monitor each, because my secondary monitor only has VGA input and I'm too cheap to buy a DVI to VGA adapter

Worst of all...

I got 8 gigs of ram for my current PC

I could've left the RAM equal to my previous comp
>>
My Winblows 10 gaming PC intermittently freezes when playing gaymes and I've done nothing to solve it other than hope it goes away
>>
Honestly XFX has gotten better over the years. I still have a R9 280X from them and it works great

Are there any interesting projects out there attempting to make a smart AI that has a personality and is able to think and communicate intelligently? I don't mean stupid chat bots that repeat memes that it learned from thousands of people talking to it.

Is this kind of thing even possible? How would you go about writing a program that is a constantly running process that learns how to receive string inputs from a user and understand what it means?

I remember downloading a program like this but it didn't have any genuine intellect. It was written in Pascal and used an algorithm to recognize patterns in strings and repeat them back in semi-relevant ways.

You are retarded. You don't know what anything means. You will never make a computer learn any of it either. You are just as dumb as a 4 bit half adder.

-Fast charging
-Streams video
-Faster transfers than usb 3.0

Why are modern laptops not using this new technology /g/? I can understand the absent feature phones, as theyre more targeted toward general consumers who dont care about such a feature, but at college, it would be a godsend to have a standard charging cable, as opposed to the half dozen or so proprietary charging cables people are forced to use.

When do you see USb type c becoming more popular? Also, I was reading it charges at up to 100 watts, meaning, if there were a wire tear, or even some hardware malfunction with the laptop, this voltage could do some damage to the human body. Are we holding this technology back because of safety concerns /g/?

>100 watts
>this voltage could do some damage to the human body
That's not how electricity works. Also usb 3.1 is 20v max.
None of this is remotely as dangerous as lithium batteries, which are everywhere. No we aren't holding things back for safety.
>>
>>53540981
20 volts * 5 amps = 100 Watts fampai
>>
>>53541014
Right, but that voltage will not hurt you.

Depends on budget. You can get an i7k and overclock it for best results but if you want to save your money get an i5 or i5k cpu. You really don't need anything more. Spend most of your money on the graphics card

Razr by Motorola. Really good graphics, would recommend!

I've created some polls - please answer. I'd like to see if /g/ is memeing or is serious about free software.
Most of these are yes or no questions.
Please note my mistake in the first poll, if you'd like to call Linux a "kernel", sure, but I meant Linux Distribution.
