Why is it that /g/ expert computer science PhDs use Arch Linux?
What makes it so good for the smartest 1% of all computer users?
It uses a rolling release system so it is always the first distro to break.

What does /g/ think of python?
>>53522825
It does what it sets out to do
>>53522825
It's OK tier, just remove Guido and let someone competent do the design of the finer semantics and implementation.
As a non-programmer I usually try to avoid software written in python If it's something I intend to use extensively and there's an alternative to it.
It's performance is really poor man

Let's say you think you are being spied by someone. I can't change my IP because my silly ISP had the great idea to give me a static one.
So here I am, paranoid as fuck. I'm currently using Windows 7 and Comodo Firewall, no intrusions yet but uh... I think the person who was spying on me might have realized something was wrong and actually went offline. So if you were in my place what's the first thing you'd check? Besides installing Gentoo, which I will probably do, but for now I want to know if my paranoid attack is justified or I'm just...

Run a packet sniffer on your router. Alternatively, nuke your drive and reinstall Windows or install Linux.

Fuck you kid answer my question
So I'm installing Linux (Ubuntu) for the first time ever, as a dual boot alongside Windows. This popped out and I'm scared to go forward.
Does it want to format my disks? Or is it something inside the Ubuntu installation? I can translate it if you want.
>>53529025
Wstecz for the win.
If you selected "Install along side with Windows" or similar, it shouldn't format your HDD. Feels like it's telling you it'll create an ext4 and a swap partition, which is normal.
>>53529025
It'll partition automatically, but if it wants to use the entire hard drive, create an empty partition first in Windows then try to install. Welcome to Linux my friend :) Ubuntu is a great distro for your first Linux, and a great distro in general. I used to use arch and a bunch of other distros, but I use Ubuntu and plan on sticking with it. I also love Unity. And the font rendering is the pic related.

And what >>53529067 said.
I bought one of these as you suggested as a secondary laptop and installed Linux on it but now I find that using it for a few hours causes my eyes to start hurting. Something about the screen must be wrong because I only get it when I use this laptop. Any suggestions?

5% of Mac users at IBM call the help desk, compared to 42% of PC users
http://bgr.com/2015/10/15/mac-vs-pc-ibm/
The real work is being done on the PCs so they have issues more often. When the mac stops working you just restart photoshop, oh, and make sure you save your work as you go!

Most of the macfans @ IBM are very familiar with Macs. There's also no such thing as a custom MacOS load. Or weird dual GPU configurations (like in current thinkpads). Memory can't jostle loose on a MacBook because it's soldered to the motherboard.
Macs limit your options in the name of usability... The build quality is generally better than a Lenovo because it HAS to be. But macs still have a bang-for-the-buck issue...
