Guys the snake oil is real! This shit runs faster on a 5400RPM HDD than a SSD with Arch. Its either gentoo, or -O2, or choosing Core2/Newer Xeon in the Linux config.

So what do you use your newly gained performance for? What was too slow before?

Nothing of value I am going to assume.
>>
>>55142036
Of course it is faster. It's compiled for specifically for your hardware and needs.
>>
>>55142036
It's mostly USE flags and kernel options. Arch packages are also compiled with -O2, but they do also get hardening by default which might make them somewhat slower too.

If you really want to try out ricey CFLAGS, do:
CFLAGS="-flto -O2 -march=native -pipe -fwhole-program -fuse-linker-plugin -ffat-lto-objects -fvisibility=hidden -floop-interchange -floop-strip-mine -floop-block -floop-nest-optimize -floop-parallelize-all -floop-parallelize-loops=4"
USE="graphite openmp cloop ppl"
LDFLAGS="-lgomp"

The last 4 CFLAGS can cause compilation issues, the others should be safe.
You will have to recompile gcc once or twice for cloop and graphite. There are more specific instructions in the gentoo wiki.

It's also a good idea to use a grsecurity kernel and USE="hardened".

Surround sound thread. One of my main hates is fuckers who don't bother to set them up correctly and have rear speakers far too loud and the sub up far too high.

What set up have you got /g? What movie do you put on to show it off?

I really wish it were possible to have nightclub quality sound from a home sound system. My head is still rattling from clubbing last night m8.
>>
>>55142017
But it is... Just buy some club speakers.
>>
>>55142045
Because of size restrictions of my apartment, you really can't get the same all-engulfing sound that you'll experience in a massive NYC nightclub. I'll probably try it when i finally get a big enough house.

Ive decided that I want to dual boot windows on my linux box, and i plan to do that by putting a spare hard drive in it and installing windows on that. I only have a windows iso, and no windows computer or media creation tool or anything

I heard windows will fuck with your other OSes, so I would obviously like to avoid that.

How do i do this?

>>55141221
Unplug all hard drives except the one you're installing Windows onto. Afterwards reattach the old drive(s) and configure dual booting.
>>
>>55141287
thats what i figured
is it fine if I just let my bios do the dual booting, and I have grub not acknowledge the existence of windows?

Can the thinkpad x220 be good enough for playing indie games or 2011 games?
5 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>55141070
No because indie games from 2011 is bloated shitty code that use nvidia goyimworks to draw spirits.
>>
You can run zdoom and SNES9x, what more could you ask for in a work computer?
>>
It'll probably run some things but AAA titles from 2011 is probably a bit optimistic. My work laptop has the same processor and it'll run BioShock at a playable framerate at 720p on integrated graphics.

Hi, so I "disabled" my tumblr for a while by just deleting the html and pasting a copy in a text file on my computer. Now when deciding to reopen it and using the saved code it appears to not be working very well, before when scrollling the next page would load automatically lower down on the same page but not anymore, it appears the infinite scroll script isn't working for some reason. I've followed all the tutorials but can't wrap my head around why it is like it is, any help perhaps?

The link to my blog is "fuckarunt dot tumblr dot com", pages other than the first can't be accessed unless typing in the url of them (/page/x). Would a kind soul review the code and see what's wrong, and perhaps fix the problem for me? Sorry in advance if asking for help like this isn't allowed...

Uploaded the html thingy here "m dot uploadedit dot co/ba3s/1466261465433.txt"

there's a problem with websites beyond just ads.

youtube has 'recommended' videos - they're a bunch of thumbnails chosen with highest probability of you clicking
tumbler inserts random other peoples posts into the stream of posts from people you actually follow.
twitter inserts tweets into your timeline from people it 'thinks' you'd be interested in.

it seems like adblockers can't fix this either. I tried on the youtube one.
How can we keep the constant attempts to distract us at bay?

Is there something inherently wrong with this practice?
>>
>>55139468
You could argue that it's their website so it's their choice to do it. On the other hand it's so effective because they have algorithms running on hundreds of people daily to optimize finding the most interesting things that are the most likely to distract you from what you're doing.
It's a problem if you want to just see the things you subscribed to and then get on with other things. I would also note in none of the three sites I listed can you turn this off in settings.
>>
>>55139505
Sounds to me it's more like your problem if you allow yourself to be distracted by these things when you got more important stuff to do.

Though well, if you do want something to try, then if the websites in question uses a simple enough interface for delivering these "distractions" then you could just use the adblockers' built in element hiding to remove the parts of the website that is offending you.

Why aren't you using IBM Neurosynaptic 4^14 Processor?

of course anon, they aren't meant to simulate real world lightning, they must be cranked up to 1000nits so you can no longer use than for 2 minutes

How can I change some buttons color at once with a button click event in C++? (Qt creator)

I have done this in C# but I am not a person.

In C# I made an object of the Button class and then I put that into a foreach loop and it changed their colora at once.

How can I do this in C++?

Just look at what projects you've done and make up a story of why you became passionate about what it does.
