Why is Microsoft still pushing MSVC and cmd/PS?

Will Microsoft ever make Windows fully UNIX-like?

>Why is Microsoft still pushing MSVC and cmd/PS?
Because it's Microsoft. They push their own, always. PS still a shit btw.

>Will Microsoft ever make Windows fully UNIX-like?
Do you mean like Unix Services for Windows? Otherwise there's little motivation.
>>
>Will Microsoft ever make Windows fully UNIX-like?

Can you please stop falling for the meme that everything good is always UNIX-like

>Unix Services for Windows
No, I mean instead of their \.\\Device_Root\HHD0 stuff, just use /dev/sda, and so forth, also bash instead of cmd...

Why would there be little motivation?
A shit ton of new projects on GitHub only work fine on *nix...

>Because it's Microsoft. They push their own, always.

Is there a way to burn CDs at 4x speed?

I use LG GH24NS72 MODISC 24x DVD+/-RW Dual Layer Internal SATA DVD Burner with Ultraiso. I tried to burn Resident Evil to PHILIPS CD-R.

I selected the "4x" speed but for some reason it burned the game with 16x speed. Now when I put the backup disc in my PS1 the game works, but there is no audio for characters speech and cutscenes. Did 16x corrupted the audio files?

Help?

>>
>>51502867
no you probably burnt a bad dump, it should be a cue/bin because the audio track has probably to be written as cd-audio
>>
also use imgburn
>>
>>51502867
>Is there a way to burn CDs at 4x speed?

I haven't burnt a CD for years, but it used to depend on the drive (I guess it's about which settings the firmware/drivers allow or override) and of course the software you use. Way back, like 15 years ago, you were usually better off to burn audio CDs at 1x or 2x or you'd get occasional skips but I don't think tech is still that bad - or is it?

What's the best photo viewer for windows?

It seems that the stock Windows Photo Viewer doesn't open images to their actual size, instead downsizing it for some reason

Is there an equivalent photo viewer like the ones I always on the loonux threads for windows?

I'm looking for something that opens images to their actual size and doesn't have any of the unnecessary border bullshit the stock Windows Photo Viewer has.

Pic related, look at all that shit. I just want to see the fucking picture, but instead windows photo viewer includes all this bullshit.

Honeyview is nice.

Please save me from this hell.

I have tried everything. Uninstalling any recent plugins, checking to find the program on my computer, etc.

I downloaded and ran at least 3 (I think 4) adware removers and they are still showing up.

Has anyone had any experience with this?

I know the R9 390 is better and now the same price but I didn't have any interest in a new 600W+ psu.

Do any of you subscribe to this? Thoughts?

Okay /g/, I need your advice
My piece of shit s3 is about to bite the dust and I could not be more excited to fucking smash this thing and buy a new phone. What do you guys think is better between the nexus 6p or the moto x pure? Some differences I've noticed are the 6p has an amoled screen and usb type c but apparently it bends easy as fuck, and the moto has an LCD sreen which I'm not super fond of but its sturdier and the camera has ois too, and it has some quick launch features that I like too. What do you guys think I should get?

So, earlier in the year I got a gaming rig, and it came pre-equipped with Windows 8. It was quite alien to start off with, but I've gotten used to it by now. However, due to no one's fault but my own, I've gotten a pretty nasty virus and it's bogging down my computer. So, should I upgrade to ten, step back to seven, or try to save eight?

7 is considered 'the best' windows on /g/, which I can agree on.

8.1 is good if you have the start menu installed/get used to metro and can deal with the terrible design inconsistencies

10 is great if you like flat design and can deal with the idea that your OS might track your every move and report it back. In the future W10 is probably the best choice for gaming because of DX12.

Is there another browser that have tab groups implemented?
Firefox wants to get rid of it and it is not available either in Palemoon or Chrom(e/ium)

Thank you. I guess I have to improve my googling skills.

So, /g/, I'm soon to download Linux Mint Cinammon 17.2, having no Linux experience and coming from Windows Vista.
How many of you use Mint Cinammon?
How does it run on old machines (2GHz CPU, 2GB RAM)?
Is there anything objectively bad about it?
Can it be riced?
49 posts and 8 images submitted.
>>
Cinnamon is easy to use coming from windows. And while I'm not sure about ricing cinnamon itself, it's easy enough to change wm when you are ready. I currently use i3 on mint
>>
>>51501105
Cinnamon should be easily usable with your specs. But you need to configure it a bit bc it looks like shit when it comes out of box
>>
>>51501236
Great news. Could it serve as an introduction to Linux?
>>51501266
I see, does it look anything like the pic I posted in OP? I'd be happy to configure it, so long as I could figure out how
