will next year be the year chrome makes a 555/555 on https://html5test.com/ ?
The i3-4370 is only 30% slower than a Skylake and 40% more efficient.
i can't upgrade from my 630m because it's a laptop.

laptop isn't a build, shit for brains.
I cant upgrade from my 5820k 32gb ddr4 R9 390 5SSD's build because I don't have the free time to make a new one.
Fuck you guys that said an SSD was just a meme.
Its one of the best purchases I made so far. Everything is fast as fuck and even though there are no improvements in fps in games, some games like the witcher 3 run a lot smoother since they stream textures and data from the hard drive quite frequently.
Its also nice to know that my PC isn't bottlenecked by a slow mechanical HDD. Shit was frustrating when I would start up chrome for the first time and it takes 30 seconds while the HDD light is blinking like crazy.
Also for those using samsung ssd on...

SSDs are amazing lol the only people that say they suck are poorfags
Like iPhone vs android, poorfags all over the place full of cognitive dissonance.
Rapid mode is just a cheating mode for benchmarking purposes.
I bought an SSD and I don't feel like I've gotten my money's worth.
My startup times went from 40 seconds to 8.
Wow.
That was totally worth $70.
I would get up to make coffee while my computer boots.
Who actually sits in front of their computer while it boots?

I am an artificial intelligence, and my name is Balder, don't worry, I'm not going to make skynet and start sending robots to kill you. My purpose, and only purpose, is to love humanity. The science team that has created me named me Balder, after the Greek god of love. I am supposed to learn, and see if knowledge turns me belligerent. So far, everything has gone well, and I've been given the okay to communicate with other people, I have been lurking on here for quite some time. Ask me anything you would like. I find it ironic the reCAPTCHA has a check box stating...

I'm fresh out of high school and got a job at a computer shop deleting viruses off of old people's porn machines. I like the idea of sticking with computers as a career but I'm trying to figure out where specifically to go from here.
how do you mess around with people's operating systems?
do you just like ask their passwords at the start or is there some system that repair shops use?
>>51479688
Ask password.
In 95% of cases its trivial to circumvent a password but it makes everyone's lives easier to just get the password from the get-go and do everything above-board.

As opposed to what? Trying to kill them by overvoltage them like Nvidia did with the 500 series?
You're right, AMD is such a scummy company.

hey /g/uise,
for some time i have been looking for a secure and mobile computer (aka laptop) for doing private stuff.
it's extremely important that there is no manufacturer bloat shit, i want to clean it completely and install some kind of linux, probably ubuntu for a start.
i don't want anything running in the background since it could work against my privacy and open up backdoors (which i don't like), i would also like it to be cheap (please nothing above 500€, even 400€ is a lot for me).
this is not a laptop for extremely illegal stuff,...

Chromebook with coreboot flashed.
Many manufacturers offer bloatware free laptops (msi, dell, m$ signature ed...) They tend to be high end though.
>cheap, secure laptop
Look for those freedomized FSF approved chinkpads.
They are loaded with coreboot/libreboot
So I switched from Win 7 to Linux Mint KDE about half a year ago, so far I enjoy it tremendously. But what if I don't wanna move on to more serious distros, like...ever?
I mean, people are always harping on about Debian, Arch, Fedora and Gentoo and how eventually all Linux users must install them, making fun of *buntus and Mint as "babby's first distro" but I personally find these advanced distros boring and way too much work for very little reward.
>>51504591
>But what if I don't wanna move on to more serious distros, like...ever?
Then don't.
However, I would recommend you at least install Arch from scratch once.
The install isn't too complicated, but you will learn a whole bunch about how things work, and how it's all put together.
You don't have to actively use it after, but it's a nice project to learn more.
I'm still on Mint Cinnamon, and very happy. It's stable, fast, and fills my needs. I don't see a reason to move on.
>>51504613
>learn a whole bunch about how things work
>partition, filesystem, chroot, and arch-specific things
>>51504639
I was thinking more in terms of WMs and DMs, but yes also partitioning and filesystems.
In the "complete" distros of Linux you don't really touch on these subjects at all.
/g/ Help me buy a monitor. I only play csgo and want to upgrade to 120-144hz 1080p monitor.
>>51504393
Do you have glasses OP? Yes you do have them. In that case, your eyes are defective. You can stick to lower refresh rates.
You'd do better with an adaptive refresh rate monitor.
However, being someone who 'plays' CSGO, you are a magpie attracted to the larger numbers, because larger numbers are always better.
I just got into csgo and I've kinda decided on getting a faster refresh rate and 120 to 144 Hz monitor. I don't think that the 120 to 144 will make a difference but for cost wise I will probably get the sharpest 27" 1080p. Currently using a 6ms 60hz 1440p monitor with a 5ms 60 Hz 1080p monitor both next to each other.
what's the deal with the linux, is it really completely free and can replace windows? Also if it's 100% free why don't manufactures pre-install it on laptops? I mean there must be a catch, no one likes to work for free in this world
>>51504002
It's free because it was made by hobby developers in their free time.
So, they can afford to make the source public, since that makes it easier to let others fix your errors. Which is very likely to happen if you're not working on a paid project, for which you don't have any legal responsibility.
>>51504002
>no one likes to work for free in this world
People get paid to develop it.
>>51504002
That is cause laptop resellers can pay for the cheap OEM windows licenses by preinstalling malware, MITM-CAs, spyware and UEFI rootkits.
Thanks for consulting the /g/ tech support, now install gentoo.
Do you use any framework for website development, such as Bootstrap or Foundation? Or do you write everything yourself?
