comcast is definitely throttling my connection in some weird way, when i use torrents. I already know that this has been known for awhile. I have not had the chance to discuss it with anyone else yet.

I don't know if this is the place for this kind of thread. Technology Policy thread, I guess? Like whats the deal with a software service provider announcing that the don't do something, and then doing the opposite? Such as saying they don't effect your connection when you are torrenting, but then obviously doing so? ... Seriously it is so obvious that my connection behavior changes slightly (fort the worse) when I have a torrent running. Sites load slower.

Has anyone else had this happen? Does anyone care? Will this thread get deleted? I'd like to hear from people who understand what might be happening to my connection, or people who have had this happen to them. Also what do you think Comcast is trying to succeed at when it does this? Maybe it's super simple, and I'm just unaware of something of little implication.

a/ and v/ and soft h/ pics in return?

oh really anon?

so you soldered and melted plastic to create each piece?

you programmed your own cpu?

wow i bet that was totally a bargain in terms of price vs labor vs time to fully functional device

...oh no i get it, you BOUGHT everything prebuilt yourself then simply put the final pieces that easily connect together like an ikea set and feel like you're some smart engineer

I have a sad story, but it's so sad that might make people cry so I'd rather keep it to myself :( Heads up, a machine, or rather the lack of it, is not the end of the world.

Hey /g/uys,

Not sure if at this time of the day some of the more knowledgeable folks are on, but I had a question about the dd command.

I have a spare disk, and I successfully dd'ed an image of my system's drive to it. And then I actually tested it, and it works just like it should. So that's great.

But what I now want to do is tweak my dd command so that I can output it, in a compressed format, to an archive (it's my understanding that an .img file is best for this). So I would have something like "backup.img.gz" or something?

How would I do that? I'm pretty sure I'm supposed to fill the unused space of the drive I'm backing up with zeros, and then spit to an output drive in compressed form?

So far I use:

dd if=/dev/sda of=/dev/sdb bs=4096 conv=noerror,sync

Any help is appreciated.

So the Arch Wiki is saying something like (edited a bit) --

dd if=/dev/sda conv=sync,noerror bs=4096 | gzip -c > /sdb/Backup/backup.img.gz

What command should I use before this so that I can fill up the free space with zeros? (So that it actually compresses more efficiently?)
>>
So judging by the threads on here right now it looks like this might be a bad time. But I'm going to bump three times because I'm a little but of a faggot but that's ok.
>>
>>55619898
You can use if=/dev/zero for writing zeroes

Well if they changed too much then older programs would stop working.

The basics haven't changed much, but there are recent C++ specs that you really should be learning instead

FLAC includes frequencies all the way to 22 KHz while MP3 has a frequency cut between 20.5 to 16 KHz depending on the type.
With time your hearing gets worse you might not hear the higher frequencies
