How does /g/ manages their budget?

I tried gnucash but it was too bloated that I kept delaying my inputs and eventually abandoned the budget.

An excel file? But it's shit to maintain and to analyze the data.

Pen and paper? Same as excel.

SQL database? I am considering it if I get no efficient idea from this thread.

>An excel file? But it's shit to maintain and to analyze the data.
I do this, it has downsides but it's solid. If I need a certain information I implement it in the worksheet.
>>
>>51266364
It is mostly for the data analysis and the maintenance that I don't like this option.

Though I don't mind scripting and an ugly UI if I am familiar with it, I am nothing close to an Excel wizard.
I for example, am faster using MATLAB if I have to plot a bunch of data.

I've been wanting to switch to Linux for a while now, maybe a year or two. I wanna build an entirely new build, just for Linux. I'm gonna use something like Mint or Xubuntu. What are some parts that you guys would recommend, Intel based, no not the biggest fan of AMD. (At least on CPU's I really like the GPU's that AMD makes)
Also what OS should I try?
Fuck Gentoo.
Thanks in Advance /g/

Well, Intel is fine. The problem is amd gpu had problems on their driver. On another side nvidia is easy to install, but source closed. Well, the choice is your son. Whether you take the fag ways by compiling the code or copy pasta it.
>>
>>51267190
And I really recommend debian, it's stable, and you can install many de on it.
>>
Fedora if you're new to linux, Debian if you have some experience with it. A quad-core Haswell or Skylake i5 would be more than enough, a dual-core i3 would be a good budget option. Remember that RAM is more important with an integrated GPU, so you should probably stick to 1600MHz+. This is the kind of thing that would be perfect for a mITX build.

Is it even possible to just put a completely different OS on those cheap x86 tablets or would that need some heavy fuckery with it first?
>>
Well you could always get a Chinese tablet that runs both.

I would predict a year or less from now android will be easily superior.

-------------------------------------

Version 5 is now out. See more information, or download Schillsaver, from the following page.

http://valkryst.com/schillsaver/index.html

I recommend reading through most of the instructions either on the webpage or in the readme
file as you're setting up the program for the first time.

-------------------------------------

The GitHub page is at the following link.

https://github.com/Valkryst/Schillsaver

-------------------------------------

Test #1:

This test took a ~64Mb file, archived it with 7z down to ~60Mb, and encoded it in 20 minutes
into a~126Mb mkv file.

It was uploaded to YTusing the "yt:quality=high" tag and it processed perfectly fine.
When downloading with the ClipConverter site it was retrieved as a ~366Mb mp4 file.

Decoding the ~126Mb mkv file took ~2 minutes. Same for the ~366Mb file.

Test #2:

This test took a ~3GB file, archived it with 7z to 3GB, and encoded it in 23h25m into a ~8.7GB
video file on a dual core G3220. See >>51133373

Has Appchan X been acting screwy for anybody else? It's been like this for a while with no sign of getting fixed. Could the problem be on my end?

If the extension itself is the problem, what are some good alternatives to Appchan X?

What's a good alternative to this app? I just started using Hangouts as my main texting app and I noticed it compresses my MMS messages to the point where they're close to unrecognizable.
The texting and everything works fine and I like the design of Hangouts, but the MMS compression really kills me so I gotta find another app. Handcent? I've used it before but no matter what kind of customization I do I can't find myself liking how it looks in the end.

Suggestions pls

>>51265503
Your mms are compressed no matter what. Hangouts doesn't control that, every sent file has a maximum size so it can be compressed to be sent over text
>>
>>51265584
Oh, I wasn't aware of that.

So there's no fixing this then, I'd have to basically use a 3rd party app like Whatsapp or...just buy an iPhone to circumvent shit quality pictures huh?

Why don't they make refrigerated PC cases yet /g/?
Those new fridges don't create any condensation.
Let's say I use SSDs instead of HDDs, my CPU and cards are watercooled, no airflow, which means no dust, nothing.
The temperature inside the case would never go over 8°C.
Wouldn't that be the perfect cooling system?

If you go extreme, you go LN2.

Normal watercooling is good enough for anything else.
