I'm starting a CS undergrad major soon and I'm not sure what laptop to get. A lot of people say a MacBook Pro is the best bet because it's unix-based, has bash and can be used out of the box. Also, I've noticed that most people working in CS have MacBooks.
How much better is this compared to dual-booting Linux on a Windows laptop? I'm really turned off by the high prices of Apple laptops. I feel like I could instead use to get a Windows laptop with a good mobile GPU so I can play some higher-end games in my spare time.
Get whatever laptop you want man. It doesn't really matter as long as you like it and you can work with it.

Just installed the 6.0 release for my T-Mo G3 and the phone charges slow as shit. Slower than normal charging on 5.1, let alone Fast Charge.

Hello /g/, has anyone here ever fully wiped a drive?
I'm overwriting a 600GB drive with 0s now, and i kind of need to kill the time.
Let's start a discussion.
Why did you wipe the drive?
What was on it?
What method did you use?
How big was the drive and how long did it take?
Was it your main drive?
The drive i'm wiping was obtained from someone else and i am usingsudo shred -zvn 0 /dev/sdato wipe it on his request.
It's 600GB and idk how long it takes.
There was a pruned windows install on that had boring files related to school projects of more than a decade ago.

yes, ive had two catastrophic data losses on drives and that made me paranoid and never stored data on a drive that was connected to a computer again, data is stored and unplugged and made copies of in different locations for the purposes of backup

Using Selection Sort to sort an array of integers 1, 3, 8, 4, 2, 5, why is the number of comparisons required 15 and not 20? I need to scan the whole array once to show that 1 is the smallest, and then 3 more times for 3 other swaps, right? So why is it 15?
