Bottom is a """clever""", functional approach, top is a traditional imperial approach.
Although I've seen worse. The bottom code is not exactly hard, but there are special snowflake programmers who try to condense as much code as possible into one line, for whatever reason, instead of just writing more readable code in 2-3 lines.

Made a simple program with JavaFX and kawa which was pretty easy to build for all platforms(pc,android) but JavaFX seems to be pretty slow.
Last time I tried lambdanative it run like shit on pc but almost year ago.
Kivy is shit.
QT seems like it could be decent.

if I am downloading a 2 mb mp3, why go through all the trouble of using a torrent if I can easily direct download it?
torrenting is best for large files or folder systemswith subfolders and shit, which cannot be ddl'd
xdcc is a good alternative for quickly downloading bigger single files
