I pretty new to PC building so recently I've been doing a lot of research. I'm pretty curious about what people think about amd CPUs, from what I can gather they are most times cheaper than Intel while providing what looks like greater performance, yet most people still recommend Intel. Any reason those of you who bought Intel chose it over an AMD?

I'm looking at getting into music making more. I have a shitty old MIDI Keyboard i got for $20 and a PC.
So what i have now:
Renoise - i'm going to probably buy this soon because i just love renoise.
but i want to buy some sounds and i need help deciding best bang for buck that are around the same price tag and i'm wondering what i can get

Reason - They have great instruments and samples and shit (Plus a fuckin Vocoder among other cool features) but it's a tad expensive (Is it worth that money though)
Some softsynth from NI - Their synths are also pretty great. but, idk about spending this much on a softsynth - nothing against soft synths or anything, it's just the interface on some of the NIs are weird, idk, maybe i haven't looked at it hard enough
Arturia Microbrute - Ok so when i saw an Analog Synth for $250 it really piqued my interest - so it's made this list. I know it's pretty limited (compared to literally any option above)
Some VSTis that don't fucking blow - Can you guys suggest anything?

How did you configure your touchpad settings? I find that this makes it almost as comfy as a mac touchpad when it comes to scrolling but I haven't found the sweet spot for pointer motion yet.

College fag living in shitty digs here, recently graduated to wageslave so I'm looking for an Internet upgrade. The free WiFi offered here it faggot shit and disconnects every other half-hour, speed fluctuates wildly and I think they've caught on to my Bittorrent traffic so they're throttling me. Is Verizon a good choice? Fios doesn't seem that bad and I'm able to afford it...
Aside from the somewhat subpar customer service TWC is alright... My bundle got upgraded for a dollar more to 320 from 220 last week.
