Welcome to /fglt/. We are always open to users of all levels, including absolute beginners.

There are four ways to try GNU/Linux, you can:

0) Install a GNU/Linux OS on a VM (Virtual Machine/VirtualBox) for "safety purposes"
1) Use the Live ISO directly without installing anything, that way, you can get a "full GNU/Linux experience".
2) Dual-boot GNU/Linux with Windows/Mac (recommended if you want to learn more about GNU/Linux)
3) Go balls deep and overwrite everything with GNU/Linux

Before asking, please search for answers to your questions in resources.

Please be civil, notice the "Friendly" in every Friendly GNU/Linux Thread.

Understand that much of your software from Windows will be unavailable, although maybe WINE can make up for it.

We pray that Polaris and Vega can deliver us from Nvidia's price gouging and incremental performance updates. If they can't, the GPU market will literally become the CPU market, with Nvidia pulling the exact same Jewish tricks as Intel. Pascal is merely a test run. It can still be stopped, but only if AMD don't fuck up. Again.

When will I be able to have interactive and customizable Virtual Reality sex with with a celebrity?

Really this is a question about when several different aspects of VR tech are going to come together.

There are already static 3D porn videos for VR headsets, and to a limited extent there are dynamic / interactive porn games.

There’s a lot of work being done with respect to creating manipulable digital renderings of people, in 3D and 2D, like Face2Face.

My question is, when does /g/ think these technologies will coalesce into an experience where a consumer can pick a given celebrity, or even a non-celebrity real person, and have a dynamic sexual encounter experience with a digital model of that person in VR?

I’d assume that some celebrities will embrace this kind of tech and actually sell digital models of themselves professionally scanned. But I’m sure there will be an even bigger black market for ‘pirated’ models of well known people created without authorization from publicly available digital media.

This is disregarding all fleshlight-esque accessories, purely focusing on the non-tactile VR experience. When does /g/ think completely customizable, interactive/dynamic sexual encounters will be possible in VR, with essentially any partner of choice? And beyond just being possible, when do you think it will go mainstream?

IRC: #/tpg/ on irc.rizon.net

Other business laptops are also welcome in /tpg/ (e.g. Dell Latitude/Precision, HP EliteBook/ZBook).
----
If you're looking for purchase advice, READ THE BUYERS GUIDE FIRST. Then post, stating budget and requirements (e.g. size and performance).
Don't buy anything OTHER THAN T, X AND W/P SERIES if you want the Real ThinkPad Experience™

Recommended models:
T420 - 14", normal size
X220 - 12.5", lightweight
----
Why ThinkPad? (also applies to other business laptops)
>Used machines are plentiful and cheap.
>Excellent keyboards - tactile feel and quiet.
>Great durability: chassis uses a magnesium rollcage for structural integrity, with high quality plastic body panels.
>Utilitarian design: e.g. indicator LEDs, 7 row keyboard layout on older models.
>Docking stations that easily turns your laptop into a desktop.
>Easy to repair, upgrade and maintain thanks to readily available service manuals for every model. Spare parts are easy and cheap to obtain.
>The best trackpoint (that red thing in the middle of the keyboard). Great for those who type a lot or hate swiping their fingers all over a touchpad.
>Excellent GNU/Linux & *BSD support.
