What are some not 100% basic VIM commands, scripts or what have you, that you use?

I don't know how to do it in windows. But see how it performs without any addons.

I have been having issues with FF lately. I can't get local storage to work correctly with my native cookie management (It would probably work if I installed a cookie addon). Also I have noticed some slowdown.

How on earth can I stop

>background intelligent transfer service

from windows fuckin 10 permanently ?

I go into services and stop it and then disable it in properties but this shit face service starts up and eats my data. Can't set my 3G USB dongle as metered, so how on earth do I stop this shit service? Anybody on the same boat as me?

You don't want to stop the background intelligent transfer service because if you actually could then you literally couldn't send any data over your network.

Is windows 10 a botnet? I do love the speed and resource management but spying is unethical, more so when it happens for business.
85 posts and 7 images submitted.
>>
>>53323109
Shen you clean install it and click on the advanced options, it clearly states that it will send keyloggings, browser data, your files, speech, your contacts, your calendars,… to microsoft.
>>
>>53323109
The spying happens on private users mostly, Enterprise can disable pretty much everything. (Not super sure if it's the case about basic telemetry, but it doesn't send anything relevant)

Besides, if you handle such sensitive data, your shit shouldn't be online.

So basically, yes it's a botnet but can be regulated down to reasonable levels.
>>
>>53323140
It also lets you turn it off.

Gonna decide between buying a new mac laptop or maybe some pc laptop since my friends keep nagging on me. But I don't know any good Windows based laptops that has good res, good performance and doesn't look like shit.
ME: Not needed for gaming and max budget is about 1800 USD

No need for any hate mac/pc arguments, just some solid advice and maybe a referall to laptops.

Si what do you want to use it for. I am biased towards Linux and windows FYI. If you spend money in a SSD and get a good computer your specs are better over all with Windows and it supports more common programs.

If you plan on doing video or music things Macs make it pretty easy plus a lot of people like the estetics of Macs.

Hardware
"Windows" has cheaper available parts that you can replace yourself easily and quickly and cheaply in general.
Apple: hardware is sometimes proprietary and has to have official hardware as of last year. A bit tougher to repair yourself. If someone else does it you're beat off getting Apple to repair it for you.
OS: (obvious stuff said for the sake of being said)
Windows: Microsoft software compatible with almost all programs for common and specialist use (like engineering programs). Often gets weighed down by programs preloading and requires a little bit of software upkeep.
Apple: UNIX distro with packages from Apple. Looks and feels nice but expensive for what you're getting.
Honestly it boils down to what you want to do with it and what you're willing to spend.
Windows is better for your money ifbyoure willing to spend 1200 but then again I've never heard normal computer users miss a Windows computer.

Just get a refurbished rMBP 13" with 512GB/16GB. I've had mine for 6 months now and it runs great with a nice display and battery. The track pad is insane too. Windblows also runs great on it if you need to use it.

Ubuntu without Unity is actually quite functional and comfortable to work with. It's incredibly well supported and the ubuntu forums have solutions to just about any issue one might have.

Anyone else here actually enjoy Ubuntu?

I honestly don't understand why people think Arch is unstable. Screenfetch tells me my daily machine has been up for 26 days and counting. That is like mac level stability. I have only had two problems ever. When I first installed Arch I didn't realize I had to get ncurses in the livecd to use wifi-menu within Arch. I also once got some corrupted keys with Pacman. So I updated them and all was fine. Has anyone actually had the problems people report to have had with Arch or is it just winshill meme propagander?

Only problems I've ever had were due to user error. Arch was my first distro and the only issue I had was installing Mesa first and then wanting proprietary drivers which broke my system further than what I could fix. Other than that no issues.
>>
Things don't fall apart entirely if you're not retarded but the bleeding edge occasionally lets noticeably buggy packages slip through. Fixes/workarounds are usually announced. But it's only a huge problem if you really depend on everything working all the time.
