Puppy Linux sucks cock. Debian or Xubuntu is pretty solid, great support. They aren't very leet, but they work. Also, take the time to learn a lightweight WM.

Same! Although a bit unsure about 13" vs 15". Will likely be having separate peripherals for at home (external mechanical keyboard, multiple monitors, mouse). 13" will maximize portability but I may be using this a lot on the go or watching movies in bed. Would I miss out without a 15"?
