What is your preferred OS to use for a small business server?
Is getting an Exchange server really needed?
How expensive is it to actually use WIndows Server 2012 and is it worth it?
Debian
No
Very and no.

Why would I use Debian over CentOS?
1. What exactly is systemd?
2. Why is it bad?
3. Is it open source?
4. Will Trisquel, gNewSense, or Debian be implementing it?
5. If it's safe, why does chkrootkit detect a rootkit in it?
1. Init system
2. It's not, it just annoys BSD users that their init system is far slower. Systemd optimises its code for GNU/Linux
3. Yes.
4. Yes, Ubuntu and Debian have both transferred
5. lol

Yes, all three of these distros are implementing it.

Why should it be bad?
You realize that the NSA could spend a few thousand bucks to just buy a few thousand cheap PCs and different IPs to run thousands of exit nodes, right?
Tell me what's stopping them from doing this.
There is no way that the NSA doesn't control a vast majority of existing exit nodes.
This would cost a few hundred thousand to permanently break tors anonymity, versus spending tens of thousands of man hours trying to find exploits.
What makes ANY of you think that this wasn't the case from the beginning?
>>42950875
Not to mention they have splitters on all cables in the US, probably the world. They can just see the unencrypted traffic at the end of the chain of exit nodes and find you.
Tor is literally useless against someone like the NSA.
Lets just use unencrypted internet then ;^)
>>42950875
This still doesn't make the hidden services insecure since they don't go through exit nodes.
Is the T-Mobile $30/Mo Prepaid No Contract, Unlimited Data, 100 minutes + Google Nexus 5 still the /g/ approved optimal non-deprecated phone + contract config?
and for people who actually use minutes i think you can even use voip or some google voice or some shit to basically get free minutes? (may or may not require wifi)
Anyone?

I half-assed read your story wondering why someone would give 2 fucks if someone was wrong.
Binary is a numbering system, like octal or base ten.
This dude was right.
Machine code is 'ones and zeroes'. Assembly language is at least human-readable machine code, but may include macros etc.

"In a lengthy editorial in the December 1980 issue of Kilobaud Magazine, chief editor Wayne Green decried the poor state of business software available for the TRS-80 and the state of the microcomputer industry in general. He described in colorful terms how Kilobaud had purchased an $8000 Algorithmics Disk System from Seal Computers in 1977 complete with word processor for their office, and that the machine barely functioned most of the time, being plagued by continuous memory, printer, and disk snafus. Not only was the included word processor nearly impossible to use due...

Is there like a general quick guide to the history of (consumer?) computing?
Primarilly interested in Apple-][ to Win 2000 in terms of "timeline", but ideally as much coverage as possible.
Basically, I have a lot of misc knowledge of old systems and some of their history, and I want to quickly catch up on the notable parts of the rest of it, so a book, a web-article, or anything cool like that would be nice to learn. Even if it doesn't meet my initial question (quick general guide to a broad subject) and just covers a small segment (say web-browser wars of the 90s) I'd be interested to see.
In short, can someone link me some cool pages/info on old tech stuff?
Won't be here to reply for a little bit since I'm heading out to my parents to get my old laptop back.
I was wondering if you guys could help me.
I have an old laptop with MS-DOS 6.22 and Windows 3.1 installed.
The laptop has all the drivers it needs (I had a field day trying to find the graphics driver for the graphics chip)
Everything works in windows (well almost)
First problem:
If I launch a game like Quake or Duke Nukem 3D from Windows, the game fails to load and either crashes the computer or sends me back to Windows. Quake always freezes the computer.
Second problem:
The only way to control the volume on the computer is with a key combo.

So /g/, Apple's just made Xcode 6 free, so anyone can start using Swift
When are you going to start learning?

As soon as
a) I'm either compensated for it or
b) the infrastructure becomes open source and runs on other OS than FagOSX. and even then, it's optimistic. Guess, I'l rather use another modern language like D or Julia.

I have been wondering, are you capable of using that as a main screen as well? As in, using it in place of the monitor?
>>42935384
The wheel and Oculus freqently get moved around, so the easiest way is to have the cables like this (even though it looks bad).
>>42935404
No. The resolution is so bad and the screen is so close to your eyes you could practically count the pixels.

Take a look at what arrived!
I messed around with Online Tone Generator and played a 1 Hz. MB42X shown here.
Can we get some more 1 Hz clips here? (Also, would it cause damage? assuming clean sine wave)
You're not getting 1 hz out of that thing. What you're hearing is the cabinet rattling and the driver throwing out all kinds of distortion because you kept turning it up until you heard something and all the shit you shouldn't be hearing is now at an audible volume.
Yes, that can cause damage. Then again you're better off throwing those in the trash and buying good speakers anyway, so I am in favor of this.
I know we can't hear actual 1 Hz. And I didn't hear anything at all when I did this.

who said anything about hearing anything? i think op just likes the way it looks when the woofer moves.
