How many of you have installed Plan 9? What have you used it for? Did you go vanilla Plan 9 or something like Inferno or Plan9Front?
29 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
If I could get 9front to install on my ThinkPad T41 and have the wireless work, I would use it on there full time.
>>
Nobody uses plan 9 outside of a vm.

I only have experience with HexChat, but I really like it. Customizable, open source, clean interface, what more could you want?
>>
Used xChat before it went pay bullshit for the windows version. Moved over to HydraIRC which was really nice but sadly it's no longer supported.

Recently started using HexChat.

I typically only frequent twitch streams, speedrunslive, and a plethora of channels on Quakenet IRC.

It is off by a a tiny tiny amount and it bugs me up close. Luckily, I will stop giving a shit after a couple hours.

I bought it from this Chinese ebay shop:

http://www.ebay.com/usr/hub8?_trksid=p2047675.l2559

It does look a lot sleeker than before. It had quite a few scuffs from owner.

>There’s currently no tool that will offer a hassle-free way of blocking canvas fingerprinting, but Gizmodo offers various ways of trying to fight it. Users can either use Tor, install a NoScript Firefox extension, download and use the Chameleon browser or blocking JavaScript from a browser altogether, but either choice may also offer a worse Internet browsing experience.

is there really anyone on this board that doesn't already have the addthis JS blocked in NoScript?

I personally think it's a very good laptop, same build quality as mac but it runs windows natively. It gives me a lot of power on the go too.

Also before anyone asks that is the terminal version of the Model M with no lights and it has blank keycaps.

Things will change when people have access to the scale of storage/bandwith google has today.

Anybody will be able to have enough resources to start a youtube / google alternative.
>>
>>43151884
>>43151968

Put it this way. The size of text isn't changing, and the size of media can only get so large, yet storage/bandwith technologies will continue to grow, and at some point giants like jewgle will start losing their massive advantage over the little guy.

Good afternoon /g/

My son is 13 years old and smart for his age. But he can be a big short sighted and rushed into things.

He wants to "make a game or animation". Yesterday he downloaded a trial of Adobe Flash, but I discouraged him from learning that since it's a program that's on it's way out.

I suggested maybe he should learn HTML and then HTML5, but he feels like that would take too long. He really just wants to jump straight in and see some results.

He has:

- Made a minecraft server on his own for him and his friends to play
- Completed all the Codecademy courses on Javascript and enjoyed it.

But this week he wants to animate something. What program do you recommend?

Just starting so I'm just taking some beginning programming classes, and a networking class (required for programming degree). Also taking an intro to game dev/design class for the hell of it. Couldn't fit anything else there, anyway.
>>
>>43142865
I don't hate math, sometimes it gives quite a bit of joy, but at some point I had to admit that I'm just not very good at it.
