How does reddit come up with such useless shit?

Do you have a google account /g/ ? Do you disable search/location history or leave it on for convenience sake? Do you believe turning these off actually prevent google from tracking you anyway?

They can and do use other phones with locations enabled to triangulate your location anyways, disabling it is useless.

Does buying a NAS have any advantages over just getting a generic hard disk for my computer and sharing it on my network?

I want a place to store all my films and TV shows so I can stream them to my media centre pc.

At the moment I just share specific folders on my desktop PC that contain my films and TV shows over my workgroup.

Let see.

>It's easier to use because of the software being made for tech iliterates
>It's low power
>It has Programs that server media to any PC and or TV
>It can share files to any and all computers/phones/TV's/etc...
>It's lower power then your Computer
>It's quieter then your computer
>It's easier to maintain.

The only CON is they are expensive as fuck.
>>
>>52110804
My computer does all this and it's always on so power consumption doesn't matter.

Is it worth the extra cost in my case?
>>
>>52110804
>>The only CON is they are expensive as fuck.
I don't really see the point of a prefab NAS unit because of this. Are hotswap bays really the only thing they offer over, say, a cheap $170 dell server with FreeNAS slapped on? Hell, even a cheap used Xeon power hog would probably be cheaper in the long run compared to a prebuilt NAS.

>3 days ago old man gets a call about needed to record a documentary about said person who called which so happens to be in the family
>He calls my old man and not me
>Don't have a Capture card have to go to the ISP's website to watch the livestream to record
>Have to jump multiple hoops because shit only works on IE 9-11 and requires silverlight.
>Documentary is about washed up football players and is 2 episodes each 3 hours long
>Record each and suffer watching them because silverlight automatically ajust for the tinniest thing and sets the quality to low.
>Documentary airs in 2 diferent days
>9 hours of work over the course of 3 days later
>I have all the footage in HD
>put it as a single file, compressed the shit out of it and stuck it into a 2gb usb flash drive.
>I charge 50€/H(since i'm unnenployed and any specialized work that requires me to jump over the hoops as to be worth my while)
>I charged 30€/H instead making it a grand total of 270€ for the whole job.
>Present both the work done and the bill to the old man since he was the one who took the job for me even though the other person had my number
>"You can't charge that much anon he's familly and (Insert familly excuses here)".
ThisIsgoingtobeFunToExplaintotheguywhohorderedtheservicewithoutknowingtherates.webm
>He returns the flash drive and the bill.

And now I still have to deliver this shit tomorow and cash out because I literally wasted 9 hours of my life 6 of them watching a documentary on football washouts.

>Noobprogrammer here (pls read I'll make it short)
>only ever scripted shit for vidya mods (Q3, Fallout 3) and developed a few OpenGL games

>need to create an engine for quizz games running on a raspi, 4 gaming pads max operated by bluetooth, 2D drawing instructions mostly, sound and max 720p video. The program will most probably run on GNU/Linux Debian

>just took 2 courses (Structure and Interpretation MIT and Python MITx)

Two questions :

Will Python be powerful enough for a lil raspi or should I take C++ (the learning process being considerably longer I guess although valuable for the future and I won't need this much skill to create something not that difficult) ?

Should I create the engine in C++ and the games in Python ?

Yeah I spent a few months learning C x OpenGL some years ago, but really it was more like following tutorials and trying to reproduce it without following any guidelines other than documentations

I'm not a total noob, I know the principles, but still
>>

>Will Python be powerful enough for a lil raspi
Actually, it's a problem best stated the other way round: RPi isn't strong enough to run an interpreted language like Python well (at least for anything beyond a simple interface around a library, etc.)

C++ on the other hand, was MADE for resource-constrained platforms like embedded.

I've had an Apevia 650w PSU for almost 2 years now with an AMD Phenom II and a Radeon 7770 with no problems. Am I fucked psu-wise if I upgrade to an FX-8350 and an R9 380x or will I be okay?

First rule when you're poor: save-up.

You currently have don't have enough money if you're considering a fucking FX-8350, a 380X and wonder wther or not you should keep an housefire PSU.
>>
>>52110296
>Apevia
You're fucked either way.

Open up your case and read the label on the side of the PSU. What's the +12V amperage?

If there's multiple rails, list all of the +12Vs.

It's as good as 2016, will voice commands surpass mouse and keyboard in practicality and intuitivity within our lifetimes? The last time I tried talking to my computer was back in later 2011 and it was useless for someone with at least 1 working finger, or toe.

99% of the applications for Siri, Google Now and Cortana is making funny videos about the top 10 funniest responses and easter eggs of the respective software. I've just seen a video of a guy who said he'd review Cortana and then spent a couple minutes getting it to sing a song over and over and over again. Also, "Siri/Cortana, who made you?" Seriously?

When are we gonna see actually useful commands beyond telling us the weather or setting an alarm? I'm thinking more Tony Stark and Jarvis stuff like controlling all sorts of smart home features while playing a video game or say, tell your computer to close the blinds while you're in the shower.

I already do this with my pebble connected to leaf.

I can alarm the house, unlock the house, etc
