So what are /g/ opinions on Nexus 5?
>>51582259
Very good phone.
Horrible battery.
>>51582259
I've had nice for 2 years. Lame battery and camera, and only 10GB of usable storage in the 16GB model. Although I'm gonna miss all muh updates and Custom ROM's and easy rooting and Stock Android when I eventually get the Xperia Z5. Good phone though, great price
Should I buy Nexus 5 or G2? Theyre the same price rn
Why is the Macbook Air so GOAT?
>>51582251
Is this notebook good enough for design?
>>51582283
No.
>>51582283
Its good for anything except playing new AAA video games.
My friend fucked up big time
My friend saved 1000€ for a gaming pc and of course wanted to buy his computer asap
I told him that he should buy the parts instead of a pre-built one and that I could help him with building it.
He wasn't really sure about that and told me that he wilh think about it.
I tried to talk to him about it everytime, because I didn't want him to fuck up his money for something that wasn't worth the price.
It has been like this for like a month. I even made a partlist for him.
3 hours ago he called me and told me to come, because he needs help.
I arrive and he tells me that he bought ordered a computer a week ago, because just wanted to play and apparently it "just works"
He told me he also bought it because it was 600€ instead of 1000€.
I expected the worst. Probably a gtx 720ti with an i3 cpu or some shit.
When I entered the room I saw a pc case there.
It's a level 10 super-tower vl30001n1z. He told me he couldn't even hear any fans spinning when pressing the power button.
I told him it isn't even plugged in (there aren't even any components in there)
I've left because I had to go to work and he told me that he's googling for a solution.
(TL:DR=My friend bought a computer case for 600 bucks)
Aside from my friend being a bit retarded and naive. Can he go against the scammer?
http://www.ebay.de/itm/Thermaltake-Level-10-Super-Tower-VL30001N1Z-black-/360395241982?nma=true&si=cbkkVNg1Jk%252Bt7K2YIytTHZlHevo%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
He bought it from e-bay and can't really afford a lawyer.
Also do you have any good 400€ builds (minus the case)?
>>51582089
>expecting anyone to read that wall of text
install gentoo and fuck off.
>>51582115
I've added a tl:dr, my friend. I'm very very very sorry. :^)
No, your friend is just a dumbass.
Im not a German, but it clearly doesn't mention computer parts anywhere. You can try to get a refund through "gotcha! He didn't say it was case only 10 times!" bullshit, but still.
Hey could you guys remind me what Ruby on Rails is good for?
>>51581928
Hating rails is one of the dumbest memes /g/ has. Rails is great; find me a better web framework with more useful plugins.
Lots of webdevs are scared of this symbol ';', they lose speed (in serves a second) from using these sort of languages, so they'll never be able to create really busy sites.
>>51584255
Node.
C# if you'll include nuget
Go
All capable of over 2000 serves a second.
Exactly what plugins do you really need anyway? That's the worst thing about web dev, the sensationalism surrounding every new piece of software, gitgud and you wouldn't need it in the first place.
>>51584255
Node, Laravel, Zend, maybe even Django.
>What is the best operating system for custom PCs?
>Is there any way to remove the gps tracking part from a smartphone?
Go wild retards, ask away.
>>51581876
Should I buy a macbook pro or iPad pro for college? or both?
Money ain't an issue
>>51581915
iPad if you're using it for notes and just fucking around.
MC Pro if you want to game.
What browser do I use?
I don't want to use Firefox anymore.
Why is green on black text associated with hacking. It can't be because of just one cult classic.
Can it?
but i-it i-is...
I actually don't remeber anybody using green with black before matrix. But I do remember the comand to set them on the windows terminal, it is color 02
I think it's because some early displays only displayed green text on black background.
Guys, ads are leaking through my noscript and ublock

Something in my neighborhood is jamming pretty much fucking everything.
>Cell phones have 1-2 bars and drop lose the ability to access internet (used to be solid 5 bars even downstairs with fast 4G internet a month ago)
>text messages can have up to 15 minute time lag to send/receive
>no bluetooth device can reliably connect in the home
>remote car starter is jammed completely (it works at my office or from inside a mall, but not 10 feet from car in my driveway)
>satellite radio has a huge dead spot about a block from my house (phone calls also drop instantly in that spot)
>older non-bluetooth wireless mouse constantly loses connection
Oddly enough the wifi router works though, as does the chromecast and the 2.4ghz cordless phones. It is everything else that is jammed.
Is someone fucking around in my neighborhood is is a local cel tower messed up? Is there any decent test tool for this?
>>51581793
Email/Call local commission. If they dont help, threaten with FCC investigation.
>>51581892
Canada here, no FCC.
I can call service Canada on Monday I guess. I called Bell canada and they said a technician would check the local tower. I can't be the only one on my block getting this (I feel bad for people who live near that total deadspot a block away from here).
>>51581934
Go ask. Like seriously haha. Just ask them if they have noticed a change. This will also give you more credibility in your complaint so someone will be more inclined to come check it out.
>And why do you want to work for our company, Mr. anon?

So yeah, what Linux distribution should a windows fag use?
I'm tired of my god damn PC getting slower and slower.
>>51581510
Linux Mint
Linux Mint or ElementaryOS
Ubuntu or Mint.
I have Ubuntu on dual-boot on my PC and on my old 2007 laptop.
So /g/, where were you when you learned about C's beautiful 'goes-to' operator? x --> 0

What is the best tablet for PDF reading?
What is the best tablet screen aspect ratio for PDF and comic reading, 4:3 or 16:10?
What is the best tablet size for PDF reading, 8" or 9.7"-10"?
I'm thinking on getting a Samsung Galaxy Tab A with S pen for notes and PDF reading, but 768p turns me off.
S pen is kinda useless desu. Bought it a few years ago for school, drawing, etc.
I end up just reading on desktop.
>>51581360
iPad Air 2. if you want something lightweight get the iPad Mini 3
Take your pdf, print it out with a laser printer. Now you have the best quality reading experience possible, better than e-ink even.
Total newfaggot to technology here, found out that avast (yeah I know, I will be changing antiviruses soon.) smart scan now scans for passwords, does avast actually read every password on your computer? Since, that means avast itself behaves similarly to a virus.
>>51580915
I wouldn't doubt it. These companies probably make more money selling your personal data (eg. "web protection" that really sends a list of websites you're visiting to the company) than anything else.
>>51580915
Stop using avast. Why were you ever using Avast.
>
>(yeah I know..)
Anon, if you knew.
JUST WHY
>>51581076
Since my brother would say any antivirus other than avast is a virus and bitch at me for hours,
Got any suggestions for a better one though? I haven't gotten a virus ever, but I still prefer having one.
>FireFox is now a terrible browser
