So /g/ , I am 27 and I have literally nothing to ask my folks for Christmas. They keep bugging me to ask for something, so I started looking into these Chinese handheld Android gaming tablets. I want it mostly for emulation, especially now that PSP emulation is working well on Android. There's a few models of JXD, JXD-S7800B, JXD-S7300C, JXD-S7800A,. JXD-S5800 ... and a few of GPD, GPD X9, GPD Q9, GPD G7, GPD Q88+

Most look like gigantic PSPs, but the GPD XD has a Nintendo-DS style clamshell design, despite having only one screen.

Most of the specs are pretty damn similar, as are the prices. I am looking to toss in a microSDHC card and have all the NES, SNES games and some PSP games on there.

Does /g/ have any experience with these chinese android tablets?

They're more durable, and make a satisfying clicking noise (depending on which switch you have) when pressed. It's just personal preference.

Talk and speak about the language. Who writes in Go? What's your opinion about this language?

I'm currently writing a little framework for cli based apps. And i'm loving it.This language has good tool support and makes me very productive.Coming from a heavy C programming background, i don't like that the language doesn't allow you to explicitly manage your memory. But from the 1.5 update on the GC makes this language very good.
Also i had programmed in c++/java/php and javascript. And fell in love with how simple si to build network applications and concurrent stuff.

What use does it have? Why would you want to go out and relearn a new language when you can just use C# with world class IDE.
>>
>>51579652
If c# make you more productive and you can mantain the code written in c# it's ok.But if you consider it cluter, bloted like java go to GoLang it's much more nicer code and not code like class MyFoo : MyBar, MyDick, YourDick { //code } it's much more nicer to just type Myfoo struct {} and if you want to implement just interface just Write with the same name the method it's implements all the other interfacer automatically

The Samsung is gonna be a much better drive. Whether or not a higher write speed and longer life is worth the extra $20, is up to you.

why does windows need to restart after installing drivers when linux and OSX don't?

>>51578139
Son linux restarts pretty often after major updates. It's just a meme spread by butthurt nix users.

I use dualboot when the urge arises to play a game, well all my graphics updates never required a restart on windows 7. Could it be that you enver touched windows since XP?
>>
>>51578203
>major updates
Yeah, there's like two a year, whereas Windows requires you to restart at least a couple times a week. It's not a meme, it's true.
>>51578139
Because Windows sucks. Is that what you wanted to hear? Now fuck off.

Times had to reboot from updates in Windows: too many to count

Times had to reboot from updates in Linux: 0

Is it worthwhile to download 4k content for playback on a 1440p monitor?

The only actual 4K content right now is porn. Netflix/YT 4K shit is complete shit no better than 1080p.
>>
>>51578307
Not even the bitrate?
LTT used 4K video purely because of the increased bitrate, even upscaling his1080p content.

Simply false. A cursory google search would have shown that to you.

What can I do right now to get better at programming as quickly as possible in the early stages of learning it?

Going through SICP? Or learning basic syntax and trying to build something along with constant googling and inevitable spaghetti code?
13 posts and 3 images submitted.

>>51577474
Posting in the right thread helps, otherwise it's a matter of learning the language and breaking down others' code until you understand it. You have to learn various ways to do essentially the same thing and different models to apply elsewhere. Something as simple as generating a random color and applying it to an object on a timer could take a day or three of googling now because you don't have any models for similar actions.

In no order, preferably all at once:
>learn programming paradigms and the philosophy and theory
>learn syntax
>learn the language
This is very different from learning syntax.
>steal code and analyze it
>make shitty shit

In a few months to a year it gets easy. It's all about starting painfully small and getting it right the first time. There are maybe 3 books worth their weight in shit, so you pretty much have to learn it yourself or apprentice under a middle aged robot arm programmer and former sysop.
>>
>>51578055

what are the three books
>>
When you learn a new concept make a small program that implements it and understand why it does what it does

he only has a low opinion on gentoo because they call it gentoo linux, rather than gentoo GNU/linux and that is treating him and GNU with disrespect.

Come to Brasil faggots, this shit starts at R$ 7299,00. 1 Dollar = R$ 3,8.

R$7299,00 / 3,8 = $1920 US dollars for the 32GB model.

Why? Physical buttons are better in every single way

having physical buttons on a smartphone is kind of like having a keyboard with mixed switches (some blue, some rubber, some black, let's say). it's inconsistent. you either go full phys or full touch.

Why did Samsung sell their HDD division to Seagate? Their drives were reliable, fast, and very popular. Now I don't know anymore.

I guess I'll have to get a Seagate and cross my fingers. WD asks too much for their black series.
