They are okay. If you don't have a good amp, the bass gets really flabby and boosted. If you aren't sure about the quality of your source, the shp9500 is a safer bet.

I figured I'd get a 32 inch at 1080p, but then I thought why not go slightly bigger and get a slightly bigger TV at double the res in order to make up for the size and PPI. I have a 980ti.

well dude, Arch is kinda not-so-good now because of the recent systemd thingy and how poisonous its community is.
Another distro that picked up its philosophy of being interesting and innovative and really simple and fast is Void Linux, I would suggest installing that and starting from there.
