Which programming language should I learn if I wanted to do .. penetration testing? And which OS is the best for doing stuff like that?

x86 assembly and c
any unix, linux is easiest
>>
You're better off reading a lot of on Networking and TC/IP, then basic System Administration stuff, then familiarize yourself with the commons tools pentesters use. Programming is only useful if you can identify a need or a problem first. If you don't know what you're doing, you're not going be able to code some leet hax tools.

Seriously, just pirate some A+, Network+ and Security+ certification training materials from thepiratebay, and start studying. It's not as glamorous as you think.

"CBT Nuggets" and "Pluralsight" are both good publishers of video courses and literature which you can search for on whatever torrent tracker you'd like.

Oh, and Kali Linux is a distro that comes with a bunch of common penetration testing utilities.

What to you paranoid pedophiles have against telemetry? Don't you understand companies collect data about their users so they can IMPROVE their product?

I bet none of you even know shit about programming, you're probably just underage kids from /v/ who think everything just magically works without the developer knowing anything about their users.

>IMPROVE their product
You mean inject ads? Or is it aids?
>>
>>53685185
It's the fact that they don't explicitly detail what's being collected and what it's used for.

Tell me what you want to know, and then I'll make an informed judgement as to whether it's worth the privacy/security risk to allow others to use my data. As it's usually hidden behind weasel-worded 'we may or may not use unspecific blah blah to enhance the user story' legalese, I can't make an informed judgement and thus turn all that shit off if possible.

ITT we talk about D programming language?

How do you guys feel about it?

Personally I like the D, but it might be cos I'm meet and can't get anything better.
>>
>>53684848
I like some aspects like the symbolic module system, but I don't feel like it gets to a point where you can say "Wow, the next major release totally isn't gonna break my non-trivial software build.", simply because with the all-in-one language approach they might have bitten off more than they can chew.

I mean, they already took a decade or more to redesign the language, figure out which standard library to use and they haven't finished removing their still crap-tier garbage collector from the standard libraries.
Also some other insane decisions, like supporting every C++ ABI that will exists are things why I don't believe in Ds long term success.

So far I've read the book and played a bit, and I really like it. I only hope the GC will be optional in practice, and not only in theory in the future.
It's so much better than sepples.

Need a wired charger, usb micro. Can only find the travel chargers that are for conventional outlets you find in hotel rooms and houses.

I use a power strip, and don't need a charger taking up the whole fucking extra outlet I'd need.

Help?

But what's the difference between a horizontal one and a vertical one? How do you search for one instead of the other?

Depending on the price. <600, well done. If you spent more, it's just silly since you could get a rMBP.

I've been using a build from about 2013 that I had built and I have been running it for a while. My CPU and MOBO are going on the fritz now so I am looking to upgrade. My current CPU and Motherboard are as follows:
>Asus M5 A97 R2.0 with 9-series Chipset
>AMD FX-6350 (black edition) 6-core 3.9GHz 14MB cache
I was thinking on moving to an 8 core intel CPU and a MOBO that could possibly have more USB 3.0 slots for my joystick and Oculus, but I'm not quite sure. Any suggestions?

Is there any chance of getting a job as a software developer without a degree or professional experience?
17 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>53684144
Yes. It's probably low. I don't know though.
>>
Yes, if your dad is the CEO of the company.
>>
Sure, you just have to work harder, but it's not impossible.

I also don't have a degree, but I also went to one of those fancy boot camps and got a job about two months out. A pretty shit job, but it helps pay the bills.

Don't really have a favorite one since I'm never satisfied. But I do also like Solarized Dark, Kobalt, Oblivion and Noway Today (from netbeans when coding java).

What are some misconceptions about computer viruses? I am trying to learn more about them in hopes of one day developing software to combat them. Unfortunately I am dead broke and can't afford schooling but I still want to learn.

What some common misconceptions about viruses. Hell what even constitutes a computer virus?

One misconception I noticed is that a lot of people think viruses can do more than they are capable of. Like I am sure there are bad viruses but a lot of them are more like annoyances. Am I correct in this thinking?

Does anyone have any insight?

I think the #1 mistake people make about modern malware is that you'll always know when it is on your system. You see this a lot with the "hurrr I have Common Sense v2, so I don't have an anti-malware suite." They don't realize malware doesn't have flashy payloads anymore. Back then, it was all about attention. Now, it's about money. Why would a bitcoin miner be all flashy? You would know it was there. I could talk about this all day, but currently busy at the moment.

Basically, have an anti-malware suite. Also, Malwarebytes is NOT a single solution. It is an addition to a (free or not) suite.
>>
>>53683818
Ummmm, great example, Bitcoin miner is the most flashy thing there is. Even a retard can notice slowdown and fact, that his computer is now vacuum cleaner.
>>
>>53683818
Which suites would you recommend?

That is another question a lot of people ask me.

Why would it do this to me?

I know Dual Layer is 8.5GB but it didn't say whether or not it was single or dual. I'm just supposed to guess here?
