Welcome to /flt/, we are always open to users of all levels, including absolute beginners.
There are five ways to try Linux, you can:
0) Install a Linux OS, preferrably a GNU/Linux distribution, on a VM (Virtual Machine/VirtualBox) for "safety purposes"
1) Use the Live ISO directly without installing anything, that way, you can get a "full Linux experience".
2) Dual-boot a Linux OS with Windows/Mac (recommended if you want to learn more about Linux and their frontends in general, GNU, Busybox, Heirloom, etc)
3) Be barebones and make your own Linux image from scratch (libs, compiling core binaries, making kernel)
3) Go balls deep and overwrite everything with a Linux OS
Before asking, please search for answers to your questions in resources.
Please be civil, notice the "Friendly" in every Friendly Linux Thread.
Understand that much of your software from Windows will be unavailable, although maybe WINE can make up for it.

I was trying to boot another distro (in this case, void) with my custom initramfs+ initscript, but I failed somehow. My script is basically just mounts and fscks and cryptsetup, then chrooting into my arch.
And NO, I will not use your mkinitcpio shit because "arch already provides the tools" and "why make it harder" - fuck you. I want to understand what my system does.
So my question is - when I tried to chroot with said script into my void partition ("chroot /mnt/root /bin/bash") and then "exec /bin/init" , it said
"bash: cannot set terminal process group (-1): not a tty"
So what am I doing wrong? I just want to boot into void with my initramfs the most optimal way.

A week and a bit ago I made a thread here because Youtube was targeting me with ads that could potentially out me as gay to friends and family.

On your advice, I turned "Ads based on interests" off over a week ago, but I am still getting these blatantly targeted ads, and now I have no idea what to do.
Not only am I getting the same lewd ads, I also got ads for maths tutoring after I bought a maths textbook on amazon, I got ads for gardening equipment after I bought a rake this morning, etc etc.

Why does everyone on /g/ seemingly hate Windows 10 so much? I genuinely think it's a good product. All the silly rumors about spyware/botnet are straight up lies created by idiot paranoids.
Windows 10 is the safest operating on the market today, with features like smartscreen filter, applocker, cloud-based windows defender, and an improved updates system that ensures no computer stays unpatched and vulnerable.
Additionally, the whole telemetry paranoia is off the charts. They doesn't any personal info and it's only used to fix the bugs. Would you rather give one of the oldest and most reputable American software companies a small bit of info on how you use your computer, or would you rather help provide your entire identity and all your files to cybercriminals?
There is also a lots of other good improvements in Windows 10 like the new Edge Browser, built in appstore, memory compression, DirectX 12, and Cortana assistant. So many good things in Windows 10 but elitist idiots stick to 10 year old windows 7 saying its safer and better. LOL its 2016. Please tell me im not the only person here with even the slightest sense of rationality.
