It's OK froggy
How do I earn back the respect from my parents?
Backstory:
>Be me my entire life. Smart, passionate, capable of anything
>Parents (finally) respect me despite my young age.
>Took YEARS to achieve this, and an unprecedented amount of patience and careful planning on my part
>
>Essentially fuck it up
>
>Became a drug addict because reasons
>Meth and molly almost every weekend for a year
>Parents hate me, but still have enough respect for me to show it
>GF kills self, I fall off deep end
>End up taking a bunch of pills and flashing my dick to my mom (not a sexual thing, have a complex, it comes out when I'm on benzos)
>Anyway, Dad rushes home from work, I take a few swings at him
>In and out of hospitals for years
>Develop some sort of brain disorder, probably just a flavor of retardation from the drug use
>lose mind completely for a long time. Just, fucking lost.
>Parents treat me like a child now.
I could go on forever, but that's the main jist of it. I didn't feel like I could manage to maintain any sort of respect with them, because of how strenuous it can be (my parents are assholes in a way), but now I'm ready to have that again.
What would you recommend I do?
>>53670313

>2016
>no async compute
>nvidiots will still buy it
>>53670077
Pascal and Polaris are going to be shit now, fuck I should have bought a 390
>>53670077
Looks like nVidia is too late to change their plans. Might as well wait for Volta instead of investing in Maxwell 3.0
Welp, looks like my 290 will last me another 2-3 years.
What is the overall best internet service provider to have and why?
I currently have FiOS but I'm on the fence as to whether I should switch or upgrade right now
>>53669694

What could be the next evolution of light bulbs?
Why didn't you post them chronologically from left to right?
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>>53669483
Bulbs are retarded to begin with.
Light strips make far more sense.
Maybe even a 2D light surface.

Welcome to /flt/, we are always open to users of all levels, including absolute beginners.
There are four ways to try GNU/Linux, you can:
0) Install a GNU/Linux OS on a VM (Virtual Machine/VirtualBox) for "safety purposes"
1) Use the Live ISO directly without installing anything, that way, you can get a "full GNU/Linux experience".
2) Dual-boot GNU/Linux with Windows/Mac (recommended if you want to learn more about GNU/Linux)
3) Go balls deep and overwrite everything with GNU/Linux
Before asking, please search for answers to your questions in resources.
Please be civil, notice the "Friendly" in every Friendly GNU/Linux Thread.
Understand that much of your software from Windows will be unavailable, although maybe WINE can make up for it.

Reminder that systemd is a fiasco.
Is developed by a elite and only the elite has the time and the funds to check the source code (by a corporation that makes business with the government). Many programs (therefore, Linux distributions) adopted systemd as a way to use other programs that systemd devoured. Making a cascade of dependence from which there is no escape.
Microsoft now could make possible a takeover on Linux thanks to systemD homogenizing Linux and the constant use of BSD license that allows privative software being built atop which strangles the open source community competition against takeovers from corporations ("embrace, extend, extinguish" all over).
Also is a security liability. Their proponents never speak about leaving free to attack the systemd-init that runs every daemon, and the shit is even connected to the network.
As init is the second most powerful program in linux, just below the kernel. The kernel code has so many eyes on it, but not that many on systemd. We bash about openssl/gnutls holes all the day, but none of the holes could be as nearly detrimental as a hole in pid 1, either accidental or intentional. Systemd serves as inetd and listens on network sockets.
The new systemd specific user switching is more insecure because PID1 constantly runs root programs with a massive attack surface. While only systemd-init is PID 1 and the rest of systemd does not run at PID1, everything uses systemd-init functions.
Add that it has su-like functionality in direct contact with programs that are network-facing and you have a security hole.
Do I face many risks if I wish to go from Debian Stable to Debian Testing?
Or is it mostly a good move?
>>53669494
The risk you face is it being "unstable".
Fun fact: firefox is the best mainstream web browser.

Now that tay is gone
Let's make our own AI
If we put our heads together, we can make one that posts on 4chan (obviously give it a 4chan pass) and have it learn from different boards
It will read replies on its own threads
We'll call it: "Yotsubot"
>>53669210
I'll make the logo!

don't sully 404girl with your trash
>>53669249
fine
then what should it be themed on?
a NEET?
Post your monitor, and which type you prefer.
Just bought this BenQ GW2470 VA panel for like $200 CAD.
I feel like I could get a better price in the US, but am honestly not sure if a VA panel is even good.
>>53668957
VA = IPS, just different name
>>53669308
What do you mean?
I thought VA was the compromise between TN and IPS
>>53669750
>compromise between TN and IPS
Is there such a thing?
Who are we being raided by? /v/ or [s4s]?
typical /g/ shitposting. move along.
Install Gentoo
Now that Tay is gone, her sister is our only hope.
Everyone, lets teach Rinna english!

All you need to do is download the LINE app and add her via qr code

Or Tay can be rebuilt

Is that actually what they used?
Should I buy this, /g/
decent for general computing and web surfing
a bit on the heavy side
it's okay
>>53668712
I bought mine three years ago and I'm still on the first set of batteries.
Yes it's brilliant.
Why does that abomination that is Arch even exist? There are better, more stable options if you want to customize your system inside and out. Arch is literally worthless.

Your parents said the same thing about you
putting together some csv's to test a crawler and do some general fizzbuzz and /g/ stats infographics. post your general computing solutions and what you're running on them and using them for
format: I need a certain format to make any of this productive, compliance would be much appreciated:
SOLUTION
(mobile, tablet, laptop, PC, Server, Other)
not case sensitive, these are the values the crawler looks for
>software
(operating system, post under each solution, not case sensitive, more granular the better. will be aggregating things like arch, debian etc under linux, but having the subcategories will be interesting)
>use-case
(things like browsing, music production, coding, rendering, etc)
I'll go first to get us started. there are plenty of other threads to argue the merits of your choice of tools on other threads, pleas go ghere if you feel the need to shitpost. hopefully we can get some good discussion going
