What is the best Linux distro and why is it manjaro?

What a shit thread
>>
The best distribution is the one that works best for your particular use case with regards to your preferences and skills/knowledge.

If you like Manjaro best then that probably just means you're a new user that doesn't like the mainstream yet still feels drawn to something he thinks will impress those that are in the know (it doesn't btw)

Everyone knows Ubuntu is best

What is the best Linux distro, and why is it Linux Mint?

>easiest install
>sensible base settings
>well polished
>works out of the box, no need to install crap if you don't want to
>excellent, useful, pre-selected programs
>supportive community
>prefers stability and reliability over oooh, shiny! syndrome

Let's face it, without new users, linux is dead. Linux Mint gives even the most technically impaired person access to free software and a chance to improve themselves. What more could one ask for? Isn't that what Linux stands for?

Why didn't they just call it "iPad Air 3"?

Windows 10 is now an IMPORTANT update.
Every computer that has "install important updates" enabled will automatically update to Windows 10.

A friend just called me for help, saying that his computer was updating for an unusually long time, so he restarted it. After checking what the long update was, he saw that it is Windows 10, now labeled as "important update". Not optional, not recommended, important.

The only reports I've seen on this were from less than 20 hours ago and I didn't find news articles about this yet, so it's fresh off the presses.
Has Microsoft gone too far?

A few weeks ago I signed up to a free C programming evening class at my uni, it's going well but all we're doing is writing little programs to run calculations. When does it start to get interesting?

Let me explain;

1. I own my computer
2. As long as it does not infringe on the rights of another, I may do whatever I see fit with my computer
3. Having any sequence of bits on my computer is not immoral, to bar me from having sequences of bits on my computer is a violating of free speech and property rights
4. By extension, telling me that I can't use GPL code in a proprietary program is limiting my speech, and in essence makes you a co-owner of my property
5. Therefore, the GPL is immoral since it denies my property rights and freedom.

Previous thread objections

>"You can use GPU code in proprietary software, as long as you don't release it!"

Is the equivalent of saying

>"You can have any free speech or thoughts, as long as you keep them to yourself!"

2nd objection:
>"Hard drives aren't property, they're possessions"

Possession is a synonym for property. I'm allowed to do whatever I like with my property (or possessions), so as long as it doesn't infringe upon the rights of another

>"Not being allowed to murder limits my freedom!"

See above. Murder violates the rights of others. It's a false equivalence.
>>

Congrats, you don't even know the first thing about the GPL. And congrats also on not even being able to spell it.

>French law makers have voted for new legislation that could introduce fines and jail time for tech execs if their company doesn't unscramble encrypted data for officials in a terror investigation.

>If Apple's titanic battle with the FBI were to play out on French soil in the near future, the iPhone maker could face a €350,000 ($384,000) fine for failing to decrypt data and its execs could be jailed for five years.

>That's if a new amendment to French reforms outlined in a bill for "strengthening the fight against organized crime, terrorism and financing" survives subsequent votes in coming months.

>The amendment had its first reading in France's National Assembly on Tuesday and was cleared in the lower chamber by 472 votes to 32, Bloomberg reported.

>If it does pass in its current form, companies such as Apple would be compelled to assist French authorities in decrypting data, whether or not the firm held a decryption key to a device.

>This point is central to Apple's fight with the FBI over a locked iPhone used by one of the San Bernardino shooters.

>Since iOS 8, Apple has said it is technically impossible to unlock an iPhone without knowing the user's passcode. However, the FBI is attempting to impose a court order on Apple, compelling it to create a custom version of iOS to bypass security features designed to prevent a brute-force attack on the passcode.

>Earlier this week, AFP reported that French parliamentary deputies voted for the amendment against the wishes of the government, which so far has refused to introduce laws to introduce mandatory backdoors for national security.

>"The rule aims to force phone makers to give investigators data and it will be up to the manufacturer to use whatever technique is necessary," Philippe Goujon, the Republican lawmaker who proposed the amendment, told Bloomberg.

>"The target is to have them cooperate. The aim is not to break the encryption. The principle is that manufacturers should cooperate."

>Additionally, the bill proposes that every person who doesn't cooperate during an investigation will be face two years in jail and a €15,000 fine.

refugee crisis and islamic terrorism crisis in europe are all artificially created by the government.

they exist only to create fear that can be used to further restrict our freedom.

Already happens in France.
Already happens in Poland.
