It's great that developers are making games for Linux now. It's just too bad the framerate is so crappy. Why do games perform so much better on Windows than Linux?

See when he disables SSAO, Linux gets a lot more FPS.
AS i see it, it's nothing more than poor implementations of things like this.

If you import a phone from another country because it's cheaper than buying the local version, do you still get OTA updates for Android from your carrier, or do you need to manually update?
>>
What the fuck is wrong with my phone, this is the second time this messaging app has fucked up and the only solution I found last time was a complete wipe. I can't reinstall it because it's a motorola default. Force stopping it works temporarily, as other services keep starting it back up again. The app itself is also very laggy the longer it's kept open for.

Moto G, android 5.1

Tried googling and I couldn't find anything.

What on earth is the purpose of these things?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_floating_nuclear_power_station

Why would you put a reactor on a seagoing vessel without that vessel performing any special and energy demanding function like being a floating airbase or a platform for SLBMs or an icebreaker?

Any proposed economic usage of those things seems like a waste of money to me. Supporting offshore oil and gas exploration and infrastructure building? Well, these things did well without floating nuclear reactors around them all the time. Providing energy and water for settlements in the Russian far north? Well just build stationary things. That'll cost much less. Increasing the security of supply of these places? Well, just build stationary fail-safe and backup facilities. Much cheaper.

What are these things *really* for?

It's just a concept. It won't happen because Russia is in a very poor financial state.

Russia proposes stuff like this all the time and it almost never happens because they can't fund it.
>>
Seems flexible for remote locations where it acts as an all in one without requiring a massive amount of resources extending power lines, waterworks etc for possibly temporary periods.
If its mass produced as the article suggests, it should be cheaper than building entire permanent buildings in cut off places where its costly to send workers, and again, power lines etc could be a factor

It is March of 2016 and valve makes an announcement that reveals that every game on steam has be successfully been ported over to Linux with no performance issues, and any game in the future on steam will be developed for windows AND Linux

What is the reason you are still using Windows on YOUR personal computer? Programs? The feel of windows?
Please try to keep it civil

Literally just due to games.

>>
>>51682608

You are asking the wrong question. The question is what is the reason for you to switch to Linux.

Why, oh so every game on steam is ported to linux. Why do I care? Why should I have a burning desire to use Linux?

I don't and neither would normies, there was one friend that I installed Linux on for him.

I was so surprised he wanted that and I did install it for him.

The reason? His brother was watching bestiality online and he was afraid his computer would get infected from it.

Why aren't people switching to Linux based distros? Almost all applications that one would need (except games) work with wine. Windows 10 removes files on its own ffs

I have a question for you /g/eeks and free software nerds.

First I would like to say the intention of creating free software for everyone to access the internet is a fantastic idea.
It really is a social-oriented philosophy, despite the fact most of the time, open source software and Linux are a bit too hard to be understood by the common users, but there have been a lot of progress on the usability part.

Now, there's another thing I wanted to talk about: Are corporations still evil today? There's a social responsibility for all companies to hire a wide diversity of people, and give equal opportunities, and it works. I would even say they are doing an exemplary job. Myself I am a part of these minorities. That's out of this diversity all the industry's creativity and imagination comes from, and after my researches, since the past decade the increased ratio follows the boom of connected technologies and social networking. Smartphones, tablets... It's the art of keeping people connected equally.

Apple, Google, Facebook, Microsoft, and many companies are becoming bigger and bigger because of that diversity driven philosophy, all the people working there have equal opportunities to succeed regardless their social origins.

And I think it's fantastic.

And here's my biggest grudge about free software society.

I have done my research about who create and make free open source apps and software from Sourceforge last night, and various other software like Suse or Red Hat. I analysed and studied the authors and developers.

- 95% are white males. essentially. Wealthy, straight people. Classic.
- There is little or no diversity at all.
- Only Canonical and Mozilla seems to respects some little diversity but are far from being representative of the population.
- The free software and open source community is likely the most elitist community I have encountered, they have no opportunity for diverse social class.
- Because they claim it is a hobby, they prefer to keep their group as-is
- Only a non visible minority are LGBT people among the free software community.

How can you pretend to push a progressive ideal as being a challenger to corporations, when yourself you are totally why we hate corporations?
I would love to switch to free software and install Linux, I tried, but by experience this is a community that is very shallow and not so open, and this is an hypocrisy I can't stand. I have a degree in graphic design and social network management, but after applying for some projects by the past, and gave my resume for some big projects including Mozilla, Debian, Libreoffice devs, I contacted many people, all returns came back as negative.
I even started a discussion on the topic on every linux forums and chatrooms, every time I got banned without a reason. I'm not judging, this is a fact. I'm not saying this is representative of the free software community but this is strange that starting a civil conversation, asking questions is obviously a sensible topic.

Why is the free software community so shallow regarding diversity? I think it's just not right and want you to think about it.
>>
If they aren't evil why are they writing, using and selling proprietary software?

The Jews won again.

I can't get a stable 4.5 OC on this chip even at 1.35V. Only stable around 1.4V and I get temps around 75C then, which are obviously unacceptable. I guess I might need to replace my thermal paste.

4.3 only works at 1.32V so far.

Bullshit fucking chip.
