Hey fellas..

When you are ordering from places like Newegg, Amazon, Chink deals, etc, what shipper do you prefer? Or, more importantly, which has seemed to be the best?

I find USPS to be the cheapest, but the worse customer service, the worse on making it in required time frames, and the shittiest tracking system.

I am kind of partial to FedEx. They tend to come earlier in my area, and seem to have better tracking updates, as well as customer service representation. Plus the hub/warehouse is only about 10 or 12 miles away.

To be honest, UPS here has been fine, they just tend to come later in the evening, but probably because they have way more deliveries to do.

UPS is probably the best here, almost always comes mid afternoon. If I miss it though, picking up is a bitch.
USPS is alright, never got anything from FedEx.
>>
UPS used to deliver very early, then they changed routes and now they deliver at 7PM in my area.

FedEx first thing in the morning.

UPS is bigger and cheaper and I actually like being home for my deliveries.

USPS is shit and I would only ship/buy anything of value with insurance, at which point it's cheaper to just go UPS and not risk losing the item to begin with.
>>
USPS: they are what you pay for which is not a lot

FedEx: left $2000 worth of computer parts outside of my house at 3am

UPS: Never had an issue but they do come later in the day

DHL: Never had an issue but rarely use them

Does anyone on here go travel a lot? Do you actually have a gaymen laptop for that stuff? Are the nvidia mobile GPU atleast decent for triple A titles?

>Does anyone on here go travel a lot?
Yes.
>Do you actually have a gaymen laptop for that stuff?
Of course not. I'm not that big of a nerd.
>Are the nvidia mobile GPU atleast decent for triple A titles?
I wouldn't know. AAA titles are garbage.

I got a Dell xps 15 with the gpu upgrade (I want to say GeForce 750M) a in summer 2014 and the newest game I ran on it was Witcher 3. I had to turn the resolution down to like a standard 1080 TV and most of the graphics settings to a min, but I got a decent frame rate and it still looked better than skyrim when it came out

I was playing around with making meterpreters for Windows and sent one to my friend over Facebook chat to test if it worked (with his consent). Before he had even downloaded it, someone connected to my listener. I am positive it was not my friend. 2 more connections came in within the next 20 minutes, both differents IPs from the first. I only managed to get a directory listing of the home directory from the first connection (see below). Does anyone know what kind of machine it looks like?

meterpreter > ls

Reformatting my hard drive today and was wondering what distros you guys would recommend? I was planning on installing two for dual boot. I was kinda thinking Kali (tried a live boot and enjoyed it) and another that's for general use like Ubuntu. What would you guys reccomend? Oh, I have a 700GB hard drive, so I was thinking maybe a 25GB partition for each of them. I was always a bit nervous to install them since someone I know had issues installing on Alienware and had to reinstall Windows, but since I'm doing that anyway, I figured I'd give it a shot since I can just reinstall again if problems arise.

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2820QM CPU @ 2.30GHz, 2301 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)
8GB ram

Oh, do they all come with the grub menu to choose what OS to boot? I'm fairly new to it. I had Ubuntu on my old laptop, but didn't mess with it much since it crashed after a bit.

Debian+cinnamon is nice. Probably have to add http://http.us.debian.org/debian stable main contrib non-free to your sources.list for stuff to just werk. Debian is middle of the road as far as learning curve. If you want to stay ignorant, use mint or buntu.
>>
Try ApricityOS. It's arch + stripped down gnome, come's with wine preinstalled and claims to be good for your laptop's battery.

I haven't tried it myself. Tell me if you di.

I plan to buy some tiny ultrabook, mainly net surfing, programming, all day travel companion and such. I have my eyes on Dell XPS 13 9350.
But my problem is, should I buy i7-6500U or i7-6560U version? Both should perform similar in CPU sense, but 6560U has Iris graphics, which should allow me to play some older games comfortably and that would be awesome for a commuting machine.
Problem is, somehow, 6560U version has much shorter battery life, despite both CPU's having same TDP and similar specs. WiFi test on notebookcheck shows that it can achieve 5h, and 6500U gets 7h. That's quite a difference. And also, 6500U gets much hotter according to notebookcheck reviewer. 6500U got a bios update that increased battery life significantly, stats were updated, but thermal image was not, so I assume that thermal test was done before bios update.
Is the increase in iGPU power worth it?
Link to comparison:
http://www.notebookcheck.net/index.php?id=127065&specs[]=29486&specs[]=28216&specs[]=30796

Before someone points me to Apple devices, no, I need multiple USB connections, and I have to use Windows. Although I genuinely like the overall feel of Mac notebooks. My previous machine was/still is Nokia Booklet with some DIY upgrades. I decided I can live with something slightly bigger.

Things can only be easily extended one way. In order for you to use disk space BEFORE your linux partition, you'll literally have to move everything backwards. It's not a simple extension, and It's not something I'd do.

They're built for two different uses, Tor is mainly ment for anonymous clearnet browsing with darknet browsing added, and I2P is built for hidden sites first anf foremost.

I wouldn't do it. The DACs in them suck massive ass.
If it's purely for music, but a second-hand/refurb iPod video 5.5g and put rockbox on it.

If you're just getting it for apps for whatever reason, it would do the job obviously.
