These will be obsolete in a year

Obsolete as a purchase, not in function.

This is why I bought a 390X.
Already obsolete.
>>
>>51445769
Not obsolete, just inferior than the newer product.
An 8800 gtx should still be fine handling battlefield 4 on low@ 1080p.

The 1gb version might have a slight advantage though.

Opting out of the system doesn't solve the problem. It only hides you from it (except not really). Google Maps is an invaluable service despite the fact that I can easily be tracked through it.

It's the electronic data railway.

BSD thread!

Poasting from OpenBSD server++

Pledge is modest but it == an impromptu code review
http://www.tedunangst.com/flak/post/going-full-pledge

Any other news? FreeBSD sites?

Gonna keep puffin and only do crypto on a capable machine. All BSDs share these benefits and Linux too. Don't trust a 1-year upgrade cycle with a key you may need for a decade

Peace

I use two 21:9 curved monitors stacked one on top of the other, it's absolutely the best multi-monitor setup for a smaller desk.

What the best sleeper case that is easy to purchase.

doesnt have to be those old school beige cases but one that can be found easily in most PC shops.

one that niggas may overlook as something worth stealing
46 posts and 11 images submitted.
>>
The one that you like. I use a dell dimensions 4800 case.

Nobody is looking to steal PC's. Unless it's apple, worry about more common things
>>
they are going to steal your computer regardless of what it looks like.

on a side note, i used to have one of those slot loading dvd drives, fuck yeah
>>
>>51445343
you won't find old-school beige cases in most PC shops anymore. Hell, you'd probably have a hard time finding a beige optical drive to put in it. Fortunately, there's ebay.

>>51445398
>Nobody is looking to steal PC's. Unless it's apple
This is true. Unless you live on the South Side of Chiraq, the main reason to build a sleeper rig is because you think it's a cool project, rather than any kind of practical theft deterrent.

Even Java?

What do you mean even Java? They are notorious for bundling crapware. At least this is better than the shitty Ask toolbar they used to install.

i've never seen anything like that in a java installer.
you run the installer, click the install button and wait. that's it.

anyone who can read and comprehend basic instructions and has some free time can install gentoo.

why in the name of eris would they need to make is this fucking big?
>>
>>51445108

because corruption and lobbying

What would you do if you were in my position?

Built new computer so i needed to install windows. Got a copy from kickass but it didn't run smooth. Comments suggested it was clean, others suggested it had viruses and others suggested it was only the crack that showed up as virus but it wasn't. Either way i uninstalled it to not take any risk.

Installed new windows from dell reinstall copy but it is only active for 3 days then it goes to non genuine.

So my options are, Ubuntu, run this non genuine windows, or go buy new windows from store where i know it wont have any malware.

I usually just use this computer for internet browsing and occasional gaming and homework/school work.

Just get a better torrent. Your best bet is pirating windows 7, using Windows loader to activate, then getting genuine windows 10 for free from Microsoft.
>>
>>51444952
If your games run on Linux, then just go with a good Linux distro. Sounds like your use cases will work fine on Linux.
>>
>>51444952

does the mobo use uefi or bios?

with bios you can just use windows 7 pro + daz... uprade to legit windows 10, then do a clean legit win 10 install

Are there legitimate reasons to maintain and link to a fake Wikipedia page, or would it too suspicious to try and pass it? Is this even legal?

Someone (I know you know this person's name) in the entertainment industry maintains a fake Wikipedia page, with a url meant to look exactly like Wikipedia and links to the real Wikipedia. The content different than the real page, too. I imagine this is to skirt the pedophilia and abuse rumors that have been circulating for a while. Intended or not, the most likely audience is children for the page.

Pic unrelated, I'm not claiming this has anything to do with a conspiracy or the Illuminati. It just makes me uncomfortable because of the abuse allegations.

Someone in the entertainment industry who produces content aimed at tweens. Not a household name, but quite famous. All kinds of rumors about this guy, including being the father of a certain teen star's baby.
>>
>>51444907
wtf are you talking about link it or name the person ffs. And if you wont? well then is this really the chan you should be talkin about your crackpot fanfics on?

The scaling isn't 1:2, you idiot. You can choose between different proportions, ranging from equivalent to 1440x900 to equivalent to 1920x1200 on the rMBP 13". Not sure about what options there are on the 15".

Let me clarify: I JUST mean most reliable. All SSDs are too fast for me to fucking care, I just need to know which one is least likely to irreparably lose my data. Same deal with hard disks. I'm about to do a new build and I want an SSD for windows and linux, and a HDD for all the other stuff.

My first thought is WD black for the HDD but I'm pretty lost as to SSD reliability. Thoughts?
