Reminder to to delete your files if you're listening to FLACs on $100 headphones off your motherboard

Or, you know, just keep using them and you'll still have the damn things when you can afford to upgrade your sound system.

Dumbest suggestion ever.

I don't have a piece of shit motherboard.

i listen to opus on my $10,000 STAX system because i'm not stupid enough to think FLAC is audibly different

When it's a homeless guy on the corner shouting madness obviously no one believes him, but when people that work in the industry sign a letter of concern it kinda starts to get worrying

kurzweil literally wants to create a computer simulation of his late father by scanning in notes and objects his father wrote and owned.

john nash is brilliant as well. doesn't mean he's not fucking nuts.

I loved vista.

it was a bloated resource hog but I didn't have any problems with it. vista was great so long as you had a capable system. it came out at an awkward time when everyone started to realize that efficiency was just as important as raw power.
>>
>>51283589
Worked for me.
>>
All my professors seem to want to shit on vista like it was the worst thing to ever happen to computers.

Is it just me, or is corporate e-mail becoming less professional?

In the past few years, poor grammar and spelling seem to be getting more common in my corporate inbox.

Do you think it's because more people are communicating with mobile devices? Are people getting dumber? Is proper etiquette in business communication being deprecated by hasty, poorly written notes?

>wow, im glad your okay! (from finance director)
>hey ... have u made a report for today yet ??? i need services changed for at to when u get chance ... (from service tech)
>anon, please submit you're timesheet by friday no later because of holiday (from manager)
>Anon, good work on presentation today!! CEO is very pleased and wants u to present to the board ... good luck! (from director of IT)
>Anon, thanks for letting us no what the problem is of course we will investigate the issue we have not been able to replicate the problem so we will update when get chance. (from head of service for a large corporate partner)

I thought something similar the other day. It hit me when a mail from China was written in better english than a mail from a customer in the US.
I believe we are revisiting the habbedig of T9. Only this time it's not on a 140 character SMS on our Nokia, but on e-mail.
RIP, corporate etiquette.

Another cause could be that more people have less time to properly respond to each and every mail they receive and will just use abbreviations and stupid grammar to do it quickly.
>>
>>51283674
Phone keyboards have spell checkers and suggestions and expand abbreviations, even OS X has autocorrector on by default, so typing like that doesn't really save any time.
Time is no excuse for that kind of poor writing.

What's the best filesystem for SSD in Linux?
19 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
>>51283356
Filesystem EXT4 + TRIM:

- EXT4 with TRIM improves performance by reducing unnecessary write cycles to the SSD drive as they limited write-rewrite cycles.
- Ubuntu and some other Linux flavors support EXT 4 with TRIM out of the box.

SWAP Partition:

- Make sure you do not have a SWAP space on the SSD, again to reduce the write cycles.
- If you have a mechanical drive, then you should create a SWAP space on the mechanical drive, and avoid having it on the SSD.

Partition Alignment:

- The partition should start on a clean 1MB boundary so that block size of the Filesystem aligns with the block size of the SSD.

So use EXT4 + TRIM with a SWAP on a mechanical hard drive or no SWAP on SSD.

So, how does one keep an entirely anonymous web personality? I've STFW but am looking for actual experience & discussion. Before I get too far I'm thinking:

1) Personal hardware: used or cash purchased virgin wireless card, using random open access points. Live CD OS, no persistent storage.

2) Finances: pre-paid credit cards purchased with cash.

3) Fabricate identity details.

4) Initial email address -- hotmail / gmail / yahoo? Any of the many mail.com domains? Anyone doing free email with less record keeping than the big guys? Is there more anonymity being just another yahoo account?

5) Domain name registering: anyone not take pre-paid credit cards? Anyone not too hung up on producing a valid mailing address that corresponds to the credit card being used?

6) Web hosting -- I guess at this point it almost doesn't matter. If you have a domain I imagine anyone will assume you're real enough to take $3-$10 a month from you.

Anyone done anything like this? I'm not trying to hide from the NSA per se, just looking for a real buffer from general doxing (thunderf00t comes to mind). And I'm probably thinking too much about this. But aim for the stars

(If this is better asked in /b/ i'll try there, but was hoping to get a better signal:noise here.)

I created an account on godaddy with fake information
I then proceeded to register a domain, providing ICANN with fake personal info for the registration.

set up godaddy to use paypal for payments for web hosting and to renew domain.

everythingworked.jpg

as long as godaddy got my 5 bucks every month for webhosting they didnt seem to give a shit that all my personal info was fake and didnt exist. provided ICANN with a fake name and address. nothing ever happened. eventually cancelled webhosting and domain because I couldnt be fucked with maintaining a website anymore. all they had on me was a paypal address which wasnt linked to any credit card and they had no way of getting the information from paypal which did have my real info for obvious reasons

was nothing illegal. only did this because I dont trust people and didnt want some piece of shit hacker wannabe having my real info when looking up the domain whois because I couldnt be bothered to pay for the "private" registration.
>>
>>51283389
It only matters if ICANN wants to contact you and you don't respond, i.e you took the domain in the name of someone's trademark and they ask for proof that you are allowed to own it.
