Compile from source or just write your own. It's easy when you're as smart as OP

Welcome to /fglt/. We are always open to users of all levels, including absolute beginners.

There are four ways to try GNU/Linux, you can:

0) Install a GNU/Linux OS on a VM (Virtual Machine/VirtualBox) for "safety purposes"
1) Use the Live ISO directly without installing anything, that way, you can get a "full GNU/Linux experience".
2) Dual-boot GNU/Linux with Windows/Mac (recommended if you want to learn more about GNU/Linux)
3) Go balls deep and overwrite everything with GNU/Linux

Before asking, please search for answers to your questions in resources.

Please be civil, notice the "Friendly" in every Friendly GNU/Linux Thread.

Understand that much of your software from Windows will be unavailable, although maybe WINE can make up for it.

IRC connection details:
Server: chat.freenode.net:6667 (no SSL, 6697 for SSL) - Channel: #flt
If you don't have an IRC client (which you should), go to https://kiwiirc.com/client/irc.freenode.net/flt to use IRC on a web client.

Visit the Friendly GNU/Linux Thread/Website:

Testing it on the most popular distros simply makes the most sense because they are the ones that your potential customers are most likely to be using. You never know when some quirk introduced if the forking might cause a massive problem with your code. It just makes the most business sense.
>>
>>54441989
there is no supportable evidence that buntu or mint are more used than debian. distrowatch is not a reputable source.
you also never mentioned a reason other than popularity (which doesn't make sense since buntu is debian+patches+bloat and mint is buntu+bloat+patches) as of why mint or buntu would make sense to test on.
>>
>>54442031
>distrowatch is not a reputable source.
It's the best that we have.

Then make it for Debian then double check it on Unbuntu and Mint.

Microsoft, Google, Adobe, etc. all have Indian CEOs.

Are they trying to pander to India, do tech companies think India will have highest growth in Tech and they're competing for national sympathy? Or why?

Full disclosure: I love India and Indians and have nothing against them, I'm just curious. I'm not a /pol/tard

It's the media's way of justifying the existence of India and Indians. Indians really have no redeeming qualities, at least blacks are athletic and asians are smart. They are ugly, suck at sports, are stupid as fuck, shit on the streets, drink cow piss, have shitty food, shitty culture, shitty everything.
>>
>>54441593
>I love India and Indians
have you ever been to india? enjoyed your diarrhea?
>>
It's much simpler. India invested hard in tech education while the rest of the world rested on their laurels. The result is a lot of engineers. The best of them got to continue studying in the US. The absolutely best of them got jobs at big companies and eventually got promoted. Also they tend to be hard working, maybe it's a cultural thing or maybe growing up surrounded by poverty makes you harder working that most mid-class people.

Really big pool of engineers => some of them are pretty good => they got good jobs in US => the best of them get promoted.

The most quiet pc fans, regardless of price.

The most quiet pc fans, on a budget.

only gaymers or autists who've never heard of headphones would give a shit about something as pendantic as fan loudness in 2016, everyone else who isn't a manchild uses laptops, OEM workstations or shitty consumer builds in soundproof cases that they figured out themselves instead of asking /g/ to figure it out for them

>get an iq and an education.
what the fuck is an "iq"?
did you perhaps mean "IQ" or "Intelligence Quotient" or "something people who don't know what a shift key is clearly lack"?

no

>The key point here is our programmers are Googlers, they’re not researchers. They’re typically, fairly young, fresh out of school, probably learned Java, maybe learned C or C++, probably learned Python. They’re not capable of understanding a brilliant language but we want to use them to build good software. So, the language that we give them has to be easy for them to understand and easy to adopt.

take care of that after you get the UI working, pressing buttons. Padding is your friend here. Find some other UI that looks good and copy it.

Why bother? Loonix tards enjoy writing line codes into the terminal, harder is better for then

Just go open source so that whenever anyone complains about the shit UI you can tell them how free it is

Hi /g/

I need a new e-mail client. Windows Live Mail is dropping support for the default way it handles Outlook accounts. I tried changing my accounts to use IMAP instead, but Live Mail seems to hate IMAP because whenever I mark a mail as read or delete it it will randomly undo what I did before doing it again.

I've tried Thunderbird but you can't hide it to tray (no I won't use an addon) and I've tried Opera Mail which was almost perfect but you can't sort the order of your mail folders.

What are some other clients I can try?

Just create a temporary account, you can afterwards remove it. It doesn't matter who you sign in as. The removal system is very simple.

I registered my own domain like ten years ago and tried my hand at a little SEO, because the first page of results was for some neo-Nazi.

Wasn't even the faggots real surname, too. He had a similar sounding English name, and changed it to a more German one.

There is, just not sold in the west directly.

Plenty of cherrytrail nettop/nuc PCs around for less than $100
Of course if you want more than 2GB RAM you'll be looking at ~$150

>Android units almost always cost more as there is a shitload more work to do for the engineers compared to Windows, which they just install and pray for the best
>MS provides FREE windows licenses for baytrail/cherrytrail and 2GB or less ram, but charges if ram exceeds 2GB, so 4GB machines have to pay for expense windows license or even more expense android integration costs.
