So I just got infected by some Ransomware called CerberRansomware... First time I get anything like that in over 10 years.

It encrypted all my files, this is a new install, I just kept my important files which are... Now encrypted.

Do I have no choice but to pay? Am I fucked? I don't know how to feel right now. I feel super mad but at the same time what can I do about it...

You're a retard for not making backups, and for getting infected. Highly suggest suicide.

Your ducked OP. Save all your important files on an external wipe the computer and reinstall the OS. Someone will find a crack to the encrypted files some day, just gotta wait. Or pay if they are that important

IRC: #/tpg/ on irc.rizon.net

Other business laptops are also welcome in /tpg/ (e.g. Dell Latitude/Precision, HP EliteBook/ZBook).
----
If you're looking for purchase advice, READ THE BUYERS GUIDE FIRST. Then post, stating budget and requirements (e.g. size and performance).
Don't buy anything OTHER THAN T, X AND W/P SERIES if you want the Real ThinkPad Experience™

Recommended models:
T420 - 14", normal size
X220 - 12.5", lightweight
----
Why ThinkPad? (also applies to other business laptops)
>Used machines are plentiful and cheap.
>Excellent keyboards - tactile feel and quiet.
>Great durability: chassis uses a magnesium rollcage for structural integrity, with high quality plastic body panels.
>Utilitarian design: e.g. indicator LEDs, 7 row keyboard layout on older models.
>Docking stations that easily turns your laptop into a desktop.
>Easy to repair, upgrade and maintain thanks to readily available service manuals for every model. Spare parts are easy and cheap to obtain.
>The best trackpoint (that red thing in the middle of the keyboard). Great for those who type a lot or hate swiping their fingers all over a touchpad.
>Excellent GNU/Linux & *BSD support.

Everything else is still up in the air though, I'll probably coast with the on-board graphics for a year until I've saved up for a nice graphics card.

So far the ones I've seen just print cheap, shitty looking plastic things that are just proofs of concept and serve no actual purpose

When I can print things that I need and not have to order them online or go into a store to buy them is when 3D printers will actually practical and desirable instead of a fringe hobby for people with too much money.

What are /g/'s favorite color schemes for IDEs, text editors or whatever?

I've been using quite a few dark ones in Eclipse but now I'd like to find a nice LIGHT one. Any suggestions?
