Nokia/Windows phones are really well built and keep charge forever, but I'm still annoyed it's 2016 and there isn't a good music app for them.
How fucking hard is it to have a media player that recognises CDs with multiple disks?
That's legit the only downside of the Windows phone, it's a huge upgrade on a dumbphone and most can be bought for very cheaply, but it's lacking so many basic apps to make things easier. Where's a nice podcast downloader? Where's a good RSS feed?

I have one in my Living room, it is fucking awesome! Quality is amazing, especially it being old as hell.
Plasma's are like CRT's.
Supposedly it couldn't do 4k at reasonable sizes because pixels were too big. Also they looked kinda bad in shops next to LCDs set to "torch mode" and no one wanted them.
So /g/entoomen, what's more important when streaming (twitch)? GPU or CPU?
I get the impression that it's a CPU intensive task to encode h264. I know that some Nvidia cards have some proprietary technology for this (Shadowplay) but I don't know if that is preferable to CPU.
Reason I'm asking is that I (together with some friends) want to do something nice for a friend who is in a bad spot and enjoys streaming Overwatch. I don't think his gear is up to snuff though (from what he's told me).
Rough current speccs (as I remember them):
- Intel Core i5 4670K
- 16GB DDR3 RAM
- Nvidia GTX970
- Asus Z-whatever-chipset-was-best-in-2013
- 144Hz monitor
I'm thinking of getting him a Z170 motherboard, a skylake i7 6700k and 32gig of DDR4 RAM while keeping his current GPU.
Or is it better to invest in something else? (X99 and 2011 socket processor perhaps?)

This would certainly be an option, to use a second PC with a capture card. Not sure what amount of GPU power is needed on the second machine though.
Just a hour ago I was playing gta v on my pc, I had just installed a brand new msi r9 290 4g, I noticed a smell of burning plastic, looked down, saw a bright flash come out of what looked like was my gpu along with seeing some built up dust in my psu burning. upon investigation, I saw a few small resistors in my psu fried, and I also noticed a loose screw in my psu that might have caused it. I see no other visual damage to any other component (or a burned up smell). Any advice or insight?

Seriously, for days I have been researching options to build a workstation-type rig to run multiple VMs and some demanding R/Python scripts together with a dual 4k monitor setup. I don't give a single fuck about gaming. And throughout my research of possible reviews and combination of processors and videocards all I see is
