Took me a few years, but I have finally came to a realization that using an e-mail created by an advertising corp, and then letting them scan my personal e-mails is unacceptable.

Aside from a meme cock.li, what are some alternatives that do not profit from selling my data?
62 posts and 4 images submitted.
>>
There are no alternatives.

Gmail has nearly unlimited storage
max speed
max availability
great spam filter
recognized name (whitelist)
integration with devies
etc.

Seriously not even paid alternatives are alternatives. Google just eats them up and there is nothing you or I can do about it.

Gmail is the only provider that never goes down, so I just can't leave it.

Don't use cock.li

"Vincent" has been ousted as a Goon.

For years this red thing has been my goto for quick image viewing and slideshows. However, it's support for pure borderless image viewing is lacking. Any good /windows/ image viewing programs that support borderless viewing? Best image viewing program???

What do you really want? Something to just view images with or do you also want to be able to edit them using the same program?
>>
>>54434887
No editing is need, just a viewer. Automatic slideshow option would be nice, but not by default

It probably gets sent through windows and not the binary, the binary just collects the info

WHEN will we break free of the landline internet connection?
5G mobile WHEN?
Limitless mobile data WHEN?
32 posts and 9 images submitted.
>>
We won't, because it is limited. There is only so much wireless spectrum to go around. If everybody in a neighborhood would suddenly do all their 4k youtube/netflix/twitch streaming over wireless, there wouldn't be enough bandwidth for everyone.

Wifi doesn't have this problem as much because it only really has a 50 meter radius.

Correct me if I'm wrong.
>>
>>54434583
You're right. But, if antennas were to be installed in a way such that they don't need to transmit with too much power, then the radio waves from them would not interfere at great distances, just like wifi, so you would need something like one antenna per neighboorhood, just like you need a Switch at every distribution point.
Safety would be chaotic as fuck though...

Good for basic stuff.
Still 32GB memory is not enough.

High end ones are good but not great.
They work great as MSoffice machines and to browse internet because the battery lasts around 10 hours.
>>
I used to dislike them but then I got one and I've had a change of heart. It's nice to be able to use it in several different ways.

I bought another one since that first one but then the screen cracked by itself (which is endemic to the series) so I don't have one I carry around with me presently. I'm in the market for a new one (probably get it around my birthday in a few months).

Hey so I've got a final project for my intro programming class that I'm having some trouble on, if any of you guys don't mind lending me your expertise I'd appreciate it.

Essentially, I've got a list of lists of strings set up like a grid, made to look like a map (we're making a shitty overhead game using ASCII symbols). My "character" is represented by a letter. I've got the static map all set, easy enough. But I'm having trouble figuring out how to simulate movement. Posting pics of the code in a sec.

>Pros:
Small and minimal
Easy to customize without requiring gentoo-level autism
Excellent documentation
AUR
>Cons:
Rolling release distro - no such thing as "stable" or "LTS"
Package upgrades can and do cause breakage

Welcome to /fglt/. We are always open to users of all levels, including absolute beginners.

There are four ways to try GNU/Linux, you can:

0) Install a GNU/Linux OS on a VM (Virtual Machine/VirtualBox) for "safety purposes"
1) Use the Live ISO directly without installing anything, that way, you can get a "full GNU/Linux experience".
2) Dual-boot GNU/Linux with Windows/Mac (recommended if you want to learn more about GNU/Linux)
3) Go balls deep and overwrite everything with GNU/Linux

Before asking, please search for answers to your questions in resources.

Please be civil, notice the "Friendly" in every Friendly GNU/Linux Thread.

Understand that much of your software from Windows will be unavailable, although maybe WINE can make up for it.

I want to do gpu passthrough on a vm. I got so far with ubuntu as setting the vm up and then trying to install the gpu. I got passed posting but the os would lockup when trying to boot up. It occurs to me that I couldnt switch gpus without reinstalling or doing some surgury. So it just occured to me that maybe I need to have both gpus installed at the time of installing the os.

Is that true?

Also in gnome/ubuntu 15.10 I was able to install windows 10 on a drive and install ubuntu after on another drive and the intaller took care of everything in order to dual boot. Even grub was set up nice so I could choose the os when booting up. Can I assume that will still work in 16.04?

Confession time. What products do you constantly shill on /g/ for free? Do you actually use them?

I shill Win10 non-stop. I am pretty much in every Pajeet thread. I don't even use Windows, but I LOVE seeing all the butthurt that my shilling causes. Your tears are delicious!

I am also a heavy shill for "cloud storage". It's one of the most idiotic things out there to subject yourself to, but I fucking enjoy rustling the tinfoil hats with my ironic shilling of such services.

What about the rest of you?

It varies by the day. Sometimes I shill AMD, sometimes Nvidia. Sometimes Firefox, sometimes Chromium. Whatever's appropriate to make some buttflustered cucks angry. :^)

This stupid meme has been spammed by almost every tech writer for controversial clickbait material for more than 1 year now. Paranoid linux users with a grudge against Microsoft love repeating the lie that Windows 10 is a surveillance OS that sends all your keystrokes and files to the NSA.

If Windows 10 supposedly spies on you on the same level that malware does, then why isn't there any legal action being taken against it? Why hasn't not even a single antivirus company or security researcher called out Microsoft if they supposedly 'spy' on everyone with Windows 10? So far, the best 'evidence' of this so-called spying the paranoids have managed come up with are clickbait articles with zero sources/actual evidence and copy-pasting parts of the Microsoft online services privacy policy without context (which is for online services).

The fact of the matter is Microsoft has zero reason to want to spy on anyone, and the claims that Windows 10 spies on people are completely false and based off of no actual evidence. Windows 10 only gathers an extremely minimal amount of telemetry data. If you're using XP or above you're already giving them the same amount of metadata that 10 collects. It's all completely non personal and untrackable data that in absolutely NO way can be traced back to anyone. Windows 10 has a lot of great features and Microsoft is still kind enough to offer it for free while supporting it for life. It's very sad to see people letting all this baseless FUD paranoia prevent them from taking advantage of a completely free upgrade to Microsoft's best work yet.

I agree with you. This shit has gotten out of hand. Windows 10 is the most secure version of Windows ever created with numerous security features. It's completely ironic to even suggest that it spies on you.

Because surveillance is covered in their TOS that you agree to during the installation process.
