Lets talk about upcoming VR.
Are they worth buying at a 300-400 dollar price-tag?
How useful would they be outside of gaming? Could they feasibly replace monitors for general desktop work?
How beefy of a GPU would you need to make buying a VR for gaming worthwhile?
Are they just memes?
Vr's only relative use without other peripherals is gaming primarily. You would be better off with holo lens for non gaming.
Are they really going to have those spider-eye things on the consumer version of the HTC?
>>51301336
Probably not worth right out of the bat (but I guess they are going to release in very limited quantity anyway) But It will get big, I can see every new FPS having a VR option in the future.
So a few months back I found a oneplus one I was going to sell it until I lost my HTC one m9. its in good condition and working fine but I can't update it.
Every time I select install update it brings me to the menu in pic related, I then select install and then select the update and it looks as if its working fine from there except when the phone turns back on it notifies me that the update is ready as if it had never been installed and the cycle continues
Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong I have no idea what I am doing with this phone and feel like I'm making a simple mistake
You should do a full wipe of /cache and /data before installing updates.

New thread
I have used MPV for a whiile, but i have never messed with the config. Mostly because i don't understand the options.
I mentioned this in the last thread, and someone said i should try out this:#scaling settings
vo=opengl-hq:scale=ewa_lanczos:scale-antiring=1.0:cscale=ewa_lanczos:cscale-antiring=1.0:dscale=mitchell:interpolation:tscale=mitchell:tscale-clamp
#refesh rate sync
video-sync=display-resample
#print subtitles faster during seeking
demuxer-mkv-subtitle-preroll
#srt subtitle settings
sub-text-font="Source Sans Pro Semibold"
sub-text-color="#FFFFFFFF"
sub-text-shadow-offset=1
sub-text-shadow-color="#33000000"
However, ever since i started using this, i get extremely bad stuttering, and I'm not sure why.
Can anyone help me out please?
>>51301354
Your potato can’t handle it.
>>51301401
The thing is, it's not a potato.
i7, 1080p screen.
Back when i used to play games on windows i easily got 60 fps on games like skyrim, batman, etc, etc.
Plus, this config was suggested to me because a different config someone posted was overkill (according to the person who suggested the current one). It did have a ton of options.
So I'm just confused what about this one is causing stuttering.
So my friend had recent pc problems, so he ended up taking a picture of the internals

It's happened before many times with law and other seemingly promising degrees. There is always a large number of smart people who will simply pick the most lucrative field of his time based on short term job prospects.
Question is, will it last? How is CS different from other fields like law? There are talks of another tech bubble forming in the industry.
>>51301071
In a way it is a meme degree, but not in the same snes as Philosophy or Liberal Arts degrees. Everyone here will say that its a major for retards whoaren't smart enough to do engineering but its all just memespeeak. In reality there are still a lot of people that jump on the CS band wagon that can't even make it past Programming 101 classes. My C class started out with like 180 people, but now there are only 50 left. Not to mention they get intimidated by the math you have to take. Which isn't even that much considering the amount of math Engineers and pure math majors have to take.
Starting up a new development shop is pretty low-cost, all it takes is you and a handful of friends to make a successful program should you have good ideas. It's a pretty unique in that aspect compared to other industries.
The problem is that most CS grads either can't adapt, or are too autistic to interact with other people and have no business sense. Most don't care much about soft skills, they think their epic programming skills will just magically print money for them.
It doesn't help that larger organizations are bringing in experienced international workers, undercutting wages so people can't start their careers. They also won't train new employees and would rather snipe experienced workers from other organizations.
There's also the fact that there's a huge housing crisis in Silicon Valley and other "tech" cities across the nation, so working at a top tech company might not even be worth it in the end.
there are easier more worthwhile degrees to get.
The problem with CS is once you become an oldfag all the stuff you learnt becomes outdated. its all self learning form that points a degree doesn't have much worth.
The entire cycle is against the natural order of things. Once you become an oldfag you'll feel nostalgic about the old days and feel like shit having to learn stuff 20 year olds are better at doing.

Where are the professional tools? Why would any creative professional get this over a Surface Pro, which unlike the iPad, has all of these tools?
It's a tablet, meant to complement your main rig, which should be where you use all those programs.
The word "Pro" is modifying the word "iPad." It's not a pro desktop, it's a pro tablet.
If you are criticizing the iPad Pro, you are honestly probably just poor. You might have to save up a few welfare checks to get this one, bud.

Write a program in assembly language that will:
1. Read a number, n;
2. Read a second non-negative number, limit;
3. Go round a loop in which a further n non-negative numbers are read. Each number less than or
equal to limit should be added to a variable, smalltot, and each number greater than limit should
be added to bigtot;
4. Write out the smalltot and bigtot variables

Hey /g/,
I was going to post this to /v/, but I wasn't sure which board would be best, so I went with this board.
My computer is kind of sucky. It has only a Core 2 Duo at 2.2Ghz and an AMD Radeon HD5450 1GB Silent Edition.
I realise these specs are awful, but what I don't get is why Team Fortress 2 runs so badly. On lowest possible settings on DirectX 8, I don't get a smooth framerate. It constantly drops below 30, and I can rarely keep it stable at 60.
Is there something up with my card or something? Any suggestions? I can provide more specs if you need them.
Thanks.
>>51300662
CPU is fine, get a 750TI for cheap and your framerates will shoot up.
The 5450 is worse than modern IGPs
The fuck you doing? I can run TF2 in a basically same setup, C2D and a 8400GS, just fine.
>>51300662
if the computers is ancient i would suggest formatting your hardrive and reinstall everything from scratch

Version 6 is now out. See more information, or download Schillsaver, from the following page.
http://valkryst.com/schillsaver/index.html
I recommend reading through most of the instructions either on the webpage or in the readme
file as you're setting up the program for the first time.

The GitHub page is at the following link.

Test #1:
This test took a ~64Mb file, archived it with 7z down to ~60Mb, and encoded it in 20 minutes
into a~126Mb mkv file.
It was uploaded to YTusing the "yt:quality=high" tag and it processed perfectly fine.
When downloading with the ClipConverter site it was retrieved as a ~366Mb mp4 file.
Decoding the ~126Mb mkv file took ~2 minutes. Same for the ~366Mb file.
Test #2:
This test took a ~3GB file, archived it with 7z to 3GB, and encoded it in 23h25m into a ~8.7GB
video file on a dual core G3220. See >>51133373

Okay here's a difficult question. What if I have some files that I would not want law enforcement agents to find, would I first have to encrypt them before using your tool to upload them to Youtube? Would that even work?
>>51301661
Yes, you would need to encrypt them first. Schillsaver will still work exactly the same on encrypted files.
