I want to do a fresh install of windows 10.
I already have a Windows 7 pro key.
I always thought I have to install windows 7 first, then upgrade it.
But a friend said he directly intalled windows 10, with his windows 7 licence key.
Is it a glitch? Or is it possible now to do a fresh install of Windows 10 with my windows 7 key?
I'm not exactly sure how it works, but I think if the Windows 7 key has already been used to activate Windows 10 on your computer, you don't need to do it again because the activation license is somehow connected to your computer/motherboard and MS will automatically know.
I think Microsoft made a tool that will take your 7 key and use it to download and install 10, try seeing if it recognizes your key or not, otherwise I would take the upgrade path.
I have an OEM key on my Thinkpad and had to upgrade from 7, but now I can just do a fresh install of 10...

It's been possible since November, you just need to get the updated ISO from MS site if you only have the one from back in July.

So I just downloaded a torrent for Thor: The Dark World and when I try to play it, the Windows Media Player claims that It doesn't support the file type or codec that was used to compress the file.
But over the last few days I downloaded torrents for Spectre and Sicario and they worked perfectly fine.

If I install an unupdated build of Windows 10 (from July 29) and I never update it, can I remove most or all of the spying in it and use it that way? And should I use 10 Pro or Enterprise/Ent. LTSB? Does it really make a difference?

If you're afraid of Windows 10, don't use it. If you won't want to use the services (Onedrive, Outlook, etc) don't use them. They're not required, and can be signed into individually.
If you have 7 or 8 and like it, stay with it. Otherwise, go a different route.
