Why is this laptop almost never mentioned?
I understand it's not your epic dinosaur laptop but it still is the most Thinkpad like Ultrabook, it even has a clitmouse and a great keyboard.

Yet whenever ultrabooks come up it's always Macbook vs XPS 13. Is there something wrong about the X1 Carbon?

Did anybody here pick one of these up while the dev discount was going?

Got mine in recently and it's not bad. Decent display, feels solid, and the A4 screen ratio makes it pretty much perfect for reading manga. Runs stock android too so no weird vendor fuckery. Backlight feels a little weird compared to my iPad Air 2 (it "shifts" a little when changing angles while the iPad's stays solid) but it's not bad enough to really be a nuisance.

I just wish Google hadn't been fuckheads with forcing MTP in Android. This thing has a USB 3 capable port but I can't even take full advantage of it because Google has a weird vendetta against USB Mass Storage. Is this fixable via rooting?

Also, what are some good non-botnet tablet-optimized android apps you guys use?

How is screen, I have used samsung galaxy s with an oled screen and now everything else just looks like shit
>>
>>53574603
Its resolution is 2560x1800 (264ppi) so the pixels are pretty tiny, so everything is really sharp. Color looks pretty good too. Only thing I'd knock it for is the backlight, as mentioned in OP.

I've not owned an OLED device before so I can't really compare to that. Most of my displays (save for those on a couple of old laptops) are IPS.

In the broadest sense of totality.

You probably won't get your files back,
your shit is most definitly infected and will continue to be even after you've 'bought' the decryption key.

Tell me about power of ethernet security cams.
Because it seems to be too good to be true, one ethernet cable to power the cam and recieve data.

Its dirt cheap to put up camera's around your house that way, there must be a downside?

I don't know of any negatives for PoE cameras. Maybe the ones that need more power for the IR LEDs you would need dedicated power??

keep in mind that specifically says the switch is a POE switch, and not a regular switch

What browser do you guys use?

your sticky recommends Firefox at the top but it seems bloated and horrible, it always locks up and becomes unresponsive when there's too much activity

I have very good PC parts though. I believe this is a problem with the browser and nothing to do with my PC.

systemd System and Service Manager: What is this?

Systemd is the most controversial projects in Linux-land right now. So controversial that Lennart Poettering, systemd main developer, even claims that horrible people have been pooling Bitcoins to hire a hitman on him. systemd provides aggressive parallelization capabilities, uses socket and D-Bus activation for starting services, offers on-demand starting of daemons, keeps track of processes using Linux cgroups, supports snapshotting and restoring of the system state, maintains mount and automount points and implements an elaborate transactional dependency-based service control logic. Systemd flies in the face of the Unix philosophy: 'do one thing and do it well,' representing a complex collection of dozens of tightly coupled binaries1. Its responsibilities grossly exceed that of an init system, as it goes on to handle power management, device management, mount points, cron, disk encryption, socket API/inetd, syslog, network configuration, login/session management, readahead, GPT partition discovery, container registration, hostname/locale/time management, and other things.

Keep it simple, stupid.
