Should I learn Ruby or Python?

I use ruby, it's really easy, elegant and almost as you're writing english sometimes.
Ruby has perfect object orientation, so if that's what you're used to, go for it.

Since this board always loves the biggest numbers, what's /g/'s opinion on desktops that are designed to be low resource and low power?
They are good for office/surfing but not for MUH GAEMS, so they aren't common here
Never really got why people are so concerned about the economy of their car and TV, and never think about that computer/laptop they spend all day on. I'm really looking forward to an ARM desktop, with actual storage bays and such.
Might even force programmers to think about their code when designing software again, and a return to dedicated video and sound chips like the OPLs and Paula.

I fucking remember this company's BIOS on my PC 25 years ago, and I still see them today, even doing BIOS/UEFI on my tablet.
They probably don't have too many competitors. Being a BIOS provider is the same kind of market niche as being a widget producer (sole company that produces X unique part only used in Y machines by Z companies). It's not sexy and there's never going to be a sudden explosion in the BIOS industry.

Hey /g/ quick terminology question: how would you call the sound when a computer boots up? I only have one word (novel title) so it must be as accurate as possible.

This year I´ll begin CS at an university in Germany (Informatik).
I´ve got two options. A Bachelor (3 years) and a Diploma (5 years). As far as I can get, Diploma>Bachelor, but Bachelor+Master>Diploma.
Is it worth it to go or a master/diploma?
What differences could I expect after I´m done with it?

Wenn du kein völliger Volldepp bist, schreibst du dich gefälligst in einen Diplom-Studiengang ein und machst Anschließend den Master. Das ist so ziemlich der Standardabschluss in der Branche. Sieh zu, dass du dich nicht (vor allem am Anfang) zu sehr spezialisiert und geh nebenbei als Programierer arbeiten.
Hast du eine Domain mit deinem Namen? Wenn nicht, dann registrier dir eine fürn paar Euro im Jahr und erstell ne simple one-page-Website mit gescheiten Bildern und deinem aktuellen Lebenslauf. Die kannst du bei Bewerbungen angeben.

In this day and age it's actually kind of silly to make your own engine. Look into unity, unreal engine 4, or cryengine. They are powerful tools and have pretty sweet licenses nowadays.
