I have a weird situation on my hands that involves an samsung 840 evo that was bought off ebay (pic related). The drive is marked as 1TB, but hdparam lists it as a 120GB drive.
The serial numbers do not match..
Please tell me it isn't what I think it is, /g/.
:'(
inspect screws!~
>>51732752
some guy bought a 120GB drive and a 1TB drive, swapped the covers, and had himself a rube for breakfast.
gj fucko, get your money back while you can.
>>51732752
It's exactly what you're thinking senpai.
God fucking dammit apple.

What is the best VPN software with minimum bandwidth loss? I need to mainly use Steam and maybe torrent also but where i live my provider has blocked them.
Right now i am using Tunnelbear but it eats away like 1/3 of network speed and makes my ping in games quite high and no torrenting. Is there a better VPN software with less bandwidth loss?
Try Vemeo (vemeo.com/en). It's cheap VPN with german IP. Almost no loss in connection speed and torrent usage is allowed. Playing experience with Battlefield 3 from Russia using this VPN is fine, 40-60 ms for EU servers.
>>51732546
OpenVPN
Private internet access. No bandwidth loss what so ever, and it's cheap as chips.
Why do computers run on binary and not just the regular base 10 system? Wouldn't a base 10 computer be 5 times more powerful than a base 2 computer?
>>51732434
0/10, sage
>>51732434
no because to represent 10 you need two bits instead of just one bit for binary
>>51732434
Easier to make things that can be in 2 different states than in 10.
Can we discuss domain registration? Which registrars care about my freedoms? Does whoisguard or equivalent services actually protect my identity? What is the best way to register a domain without compromising my identity?
Gandi and namescheap offer privacy protection. Gandi will keep the domain on your name so it stays yours.
Whois guard helps against identity theft. Not really more or less.
Some domains dont release information about private individuals like .eu (if you're from the EU). But with a good reason the information can be requested.
Same goes for the more expensive .nu and .se (which have no country restrictions)
My own country .nl only gives out names and email addresses of companies and individuals. All other data is hidden except for lawyers. So it's impossible...
Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>51732972
.se and .nu ask for a passport number though, so I wouldnt recommend them
>>51732404
I think I'm gonna drop my godaddy domain and switch to gandi. They seem to do all the same things, and offer more on top of it, like the default domain privacy that costs a ton with godaddy.
My stupid apeshit country's tld doesn't allow private registration though so I guess I'll have to change my tld too.
What's your preferred boot disk? Do people still use PartedMagic after it stopped being free?
>>51732392
>Do people still use PartedMagic after it stopped being free?
No. I did before the guy who maintains it got so butthurt over people not giving him shekels, though. It's a shame, it was a good distro. Now I just use vanilla GParted Live.
>>51732392
I use Hiren's boot CD. It has everything i need.
>>51732392
old version is free
and it works

This shity qBittorrent stalls torrents, has I/O errors, and it lost my settings and torrents when my power went out a few weeks ago.
Fuck you guys for memeing me into it.
Went back to uTorrent because it just fucking works.
>>51732179
It only stalls torrents because your hard disk probably sucks balls. Not their fault you are a poor fag or an idiot trying to download directly onto a shitty SD card.

I am thinking about starting to learn Python. Does /g/ think that it's a good programming language?
>>51732148
It's nice if you don't have to worry about devouring system resources or making an efficient program.
>>51732148
INSTALL GENTOO AND FUCK OFF /g/ FAGGOT YES PYTHON IS A GOOD LANGUAGE FOR RETARDS LIKE YOU NOW FUCK OFF
It's good for beginners. If you're looking to get a job with it, look elsewhere.

Hey I'm trying to build a cheap gaming computer that can still play games at decent setting, any suggestions? Would like to spend less that 500, a lot less if possible
Keep saving up...a monitor/cheap keyboard/mouse/tower alone will be around 150

500 for tower? or including all peripherals?
You guys ever done anything cool with NFC?
>>51731930
I paid for food at McDonalds and a Slurpee at 7-11. The NFC payment thing at 7-11 stopped working, though, and they've made zero effort to fix it in over a year.
I have a tag under my desk so when I set my phone down it turns off mobile data and turns on Wi-Fi
Another tag on my nightstand silences my phone when I set it there for the night
Tags under the palmrests in my laptops turn on my phone's Bluetooth and create a PAN when I tap my phone to it
>>51732130
Is this an actual thing or are you just being a smartass?
Because they are a fantastic fucking idea. Imagine selling these stickers on the web for like $20 each. Fuck id buy it. I bet theyd cost like 8cents to make aswell.
