Any good reason why I should leave Arch for trying /g/entoo?

There you go. Literally best card on the market for the price.

Wait for this or grab a new 980 custom for $285? Getting antsy after not grabbing a sapphire 390 for $250 from the beginning ended up a horrible decision.

good, spinners are the best bots.
Last battlebots season had too many shitty robots and only like 2 good spinners (nightmare and tombstone).

I have exhausted all other options. I recently built a new PC. I am running a 4790k on stock cooling.

>Turbo Boost I get 29-31C idle and 75-90C playing CS:GO

>Stock 4.0ghz I get 30-32C idle and 60-70C playing CS:GO

Are these normal expected temps for a stock cooler or do I have a bad chip?

I have re-seated the cooler already.

I plan on buying a Kraken x61 but wanted to make sure my chip isn't fucked before I blow money to OC it and can't fight temps worth shit.

With pricing and availability aside, are there any advantages of using a HDD over a SSD?
37 posts and 4 images submitted.
>>
>>55398898
Storage size.
Its really really hard to get a SDD that fits 10tb in the same size of a HDD.
>>
A HDD won't lose your data if you leave it unplugged for 6 months.
>>
>>55398955
if this is relevant for your usecase, use bandstorage

Should I bring my desktop with me to grad school? I'm going to be renting an apartment, and I don't want to rack up a huge electric bill. Would a laptop with docking station use less electricity? Space is also a concern since the room is tiny.

just installed ESXi on my home "server" (beefy desktop), what distro to manage my media?

thinking maybe windows for active directory stuff. blow me away
4 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
Out of curiosity. Why ESXi for a home server? I thought the benefits only really made sense for if you're running multiple servers.
>>
>>55398778
functionality, resource management, learning...

most importantly, ease of control.

I put in ESXi flash drive, install, it spits out IP, then I never need to physically touch it again, can unplug monitor.
>>
Neat. I have my router on an esxi box. I use the other to host game servers.

2) Dual boot the GNU/Linux distribution of your choice along with Windows or macOS, this is recommended if you want to know more about the GNU/Linux operating system.
3) Go balls deep and replace everything with GNU/Linux.

Just opened this up, cleaned it, & replaced the sticks.

There any way to fix the old/worn-out analogue switches? Or should I just order some new ones & finally claim my soldering station from a relative?

I think this is the beginning of something beautiful.
