Chairs are technology and are pretty important to your setup.
Can you guys help a tall-man like myself (6'3)
Find an acceptable comfortable chair for my height?
Im browsing on amazon and it looks like in the chair department they have forgotten all about taller people, like they dont even think tall people were ever a thing.

Are there any 1440p monitors around 200-250$?

I don't really care about refresh rate or response time, as long as they are not too particularly awful. Instead I'd prefer a good panel quality, and it should be between 24 or 27 inches.
Do you think this is too much to ask, considering the price range?
My intention is to buy a 1070 in the future, but it's quite an overkill for my current 1080p. So logically I can't spend too much. Suggestions are welcome.

>>
>>54567529
yea. Even a decent Korean 1440p panel in the 27" range will be $300. At your price range you'd be better off getting a 144hz 1080p panel. I would never recommend a 24" 1440p panel as the screen is way too small for the resolution. I'm playing on a 32" 1440p panel myself. If you NEED a new panel now, get a good 1080p. Otherwise save up into the $450 range and get something really good.
>>
>>54567595
what size would you reccomend for 1440p? Would 27in be big enough?

IRC: #/tpg/ on irc.rizon.net

Other business laptops are also welcome in /tpg/ (e.g. Dell Latitude/Precision, HP EliteBook/ZBook).
----
If you're looking for purchase advice, READ THE BUYERS GUIDE FIRST. Then post, stating budget and requirements (e.g. size and performance).
Don't buy anything OTHER THAN T, X AND W/P SERIES if you want the Real ThinkPad Experience™

Recommended models:
T420 - 14", normal size
X220 - 12.5", lightweight
----
Why ThinkPad? (also applies to other business laptops)
>Used machines are plentiful and cheap.
>Excellent keyboards - tactile feel and quiet.
>Great durability: chassis uses a magnesium rollcage for structural integrity, with high quality plastic body panels.
>Utilitarian design: e.g. indicator LEDs, 7 row keyboard layout on older models.
>Docking stations that easily turns your laptop into a desktop.
>Easy to repair, upgrade and maintain thanks to readily available service manuals for every model. Spare parts are easy and cheap to obtain.
>The best trackpoint (that red thing in the middle of the keyboard). Great for those who type a lot or hate swiping their fingers all over a touchpad.
>Excellent GNU/Linux & *BSD support.

Yes, we know everything is already from China but in here we discuss the no/low-name cheap shit you see on Gearbest, AliExpress, eBay and similar sites.

what are /g/'s thoughts on G SYNC monitors?

are they THE FUTURE of displays

is the difference like night and day? i need to see one in action to really decide but no one i know has one

>>54565932
They just need to drop the gamer drivel and make it a common feature of monitors.

Movies would be so much better without the pan-shake effect from going from 24 hz to 60 hz. I really hope that it is the future, but I'm reluctant due to it now being called a 'gamer' feature.
>>
G-Sync is proprietary horseshit. FreeSync is where it's at.
>>
whatever 'gamer feature' its just a label it doesnt really change the tech for me

i was looking fucking monitors are like 820$

what is free sync

Tech related things that anger you, but ultimately shouldn't.

>iPod touch being called "iTouch"
>Apple Watch being called "iWatch"
>people saying "UHD 4K" or "4K" for a UHD television/monitor
>Windows Office instead of Microsoft Office
>Gold plated connectors being better for things that really don't need it
>"What version of Windows do you have?" "I don't know. It's a HP. Does that help?"

That's just a few things that irrationally anger me, even though there's no reason they should.

What about you, /g/? What are some things that annoy you that ultimately shouldn't?

In highschool I just did a bunch of research on what paths were available to me and tried a bunch of stuff. Ended up finding something I liked and went with that.

Programming and computer science are fun as fuck, but university is dragging me down. I spend most of my time on bullshit filler classes this semester, there's like 3 hours of classes in a week that interest me.

Welcome to /fglt/. We are always open to users of all levels, including absolute beginners.

There are four ways to try GNU/Linux, you can:

0) Install a GNU/Linux OS on a VM (Virtual Machine/VirtualBox) for "safety purposes"
1) Use the Live ISO directly without installing anything, that way, you can get a "full GNU/Linux experience".
2) Dual-boot GNU/Linux with Windows/Mac (recommended if you want to learn more about GNU/Linux)
3) Go balls deep and overwrite everything with GNU/Linux

Before asking, please search for answers to your questions in resources.

Please be civil, notice the "Friendly" in every Friendly GNU/Linux Thread.

Understand that much of your software from Windows will be unavailable, although maybe WINE can make up for it.

can you touch type? how fast?
51 posts and 9 images submitted.
>>
Your pic isn't touch typing. Touch typing is not having to look at the keyboard while you're typing. Most people who use computers more than a few hours a day should be capable of this if they aren't complete dullards.
>>
>>54563261
Yes, about 60 words a minute. I don't do formal touch typing though, that's probably why I'm so slow.
>>

I never learned the whole hand placement thing, so my hands just hover over the keys.

I can only type at 70 max on the tests online.
However, anything video game related or meta like "kek lol faggot git gud" is atleast 120wpm.
