Hey, cumguzzler!
You openly invite Zukerburger and the Googlebot into your life, claiming that you have "nuttin2hyde", yet you close your door/curtains when you violate yourself to Chinese cartoons.
You can't explain that.
It's all about being in control of the image you project, and choosing what you allow others to see.
This really isn't that difficult

I bought a USB volume control wheel for my PC (pic related) and the bottom is felt so it slips around my desk. I realize that my keyboard (a Leopold from Elitekeyboards) and mouse (Logitech trackball) also move easier than I prefer.
Anybody have suggestions on a non-slip material that I could purchase so my peripherals don't move around my desk as easily?

alright so here's what you do:
1. go to google.com
2. search for "anti slip pad" without the quotations
3. find a product you like and buy it
thank me later

Hey /g/, I'm beginning to realize the full effects of not paying attention in high school math. I'm at a community college getting credits to transfer to a university for a degree in CS, and I'm realizing that I actually need to know math to get through the degree. I've dropped precalculus and nearly failed "advanced" algebra.
What can I do to get good at math? I have to get to Calculus 4 by the end of the degree, along with a lot of other math classes I have no chance of passing at this rate.
Are there any good sites to go to for...

Pretend that you like math, and then, do all your homework, and then, pass the exam.
PatrickJMT
You're going to need multivariable calc to be able to take third and fourth year courses bro. You're fucked if you're not even in calc yet
You're just like every other CS student, OP. They're all gonna be math minors. Yeah right.
After calculus I my classes got tiny. It was just us (physics majors) and math majors in it. CS students were too busy wanking to javascript.
Due to location circumstances I can't really have modem/router in the location of a desktop nor can I run a really long cable or be drilling in walls and things like that and need for my desktop to get wifi that is of the more recent standards (n and ac) While I'm sure in a general sense using the pci-e ones are better because of antennas and things the prices of them are a bit higher vs paying around 30 or less for just a simple USB stick. Just wondering if the stick can serve me just fine the internet speed goes to 100meg so whatever gets me close enough to that.
>>54561667

Try 5 with that PoS. Can you use PowerLine at least?
>>54561667
>Prices for them are a bit higher than paying around 30 or less
Mine cost like $18 and gets >20Mb/s being ~50ft vertically above the router
$30 stick will get around 0.000000004Kb/Hr

How does /g/ manage files that you want to save for the rest of your life? I kinda assumed that people use various kinds of virtual volumes and keep track of checksum data.
How does virtual disks function long term? like iso/or various encrypted volumes? Ive been trying to find information about fragmented virtual drives but i cant really find any infromation on how you should maintain a virtual volume.

I keep 2 backups. I should have a cloud backup in case my house catches fire though or is broken into.

What is a port? Where is it located physically (in the router or the computer)? If I open a port can someone access all of my files if I'm connected to the internet? If not how do I make my computer accessible in that way?
Why is 64bit = x64 but 32bit = x86?
I want to get a dual monitor setup, one for full screen stuff like gaming and one for desktop stuff like 4chan, porn, youtube.
I currently have a 144hz monitor which i would use for gaming.
Would there be any problems if i bought a 60hz screen for desktop stuff?
Also, how does the focussing work? Can i just press alt tab to switch to the other screen? And can i make it so that i cant go off my gaming screen with my mouse while im ingame? I do like to be able to drag things from one monitor to another but not when im ingame ofcourse.
Does anyone know any good references for math/programming books? My school always sucked at math and I never appreciated it until I got to college now.
While I love math, I find the lack of foundation from high school impedes me to appreciate programming (I passed the college application tests with high scores due to weeks of intense self study).
I have read and understood the K&R, and I know how Assembly works. However I cannot call myself a programmer as my math skills are shit. Looking to change that, and would appreciate suggestions and tips.Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
You'd be better off on /sci/. While I do know quite a bit of math due to my course forcing it upon me, I haven't found it very useful in programming. High school math should be good enough for most of what you'll need, unless you're into complex and highly efficient algorithms.
Regarding programming itself, you started the right way, I'd say what you should do is get on GitHub or something of the sorts and start doing projects, sucking at them, being told how bad you are until you get good. Books have a limited reach on that area

Okay, so I bought a GTX970 a year ago and then bought a 1440p display without realising the performance hit the card would take at that resolution. So should I upgrade to the 1080 when it comes out? Will it be worth it really?
>>54561423
Your games can theoretically run fine at that resolution if they are programmed and optimized correctly with new apis like vulkan / dx12
GTX 1070
>>54561423
You'd still be fine with a 1070 at that resolution unless you play gaymes like crysis3, just cause 3, or shadow of mordor with the hd texture pack.

I am looking for a new pair of headphones/headsets to upgrade from my crappy GameCom 780.
What I am mainly looking for is good sound quality and balance regarding treble and bass without overemphasis on any of these. And most importantly positional sound for more immersive experience in movies and for sound whoring in FPS games. After a long tiresome research I was stuck between choosing one of these three:
• Philips Fidelio X2
• AKG Q701
• Sennheiser PC363D
I don't have a sound amp on my PC, and I can only make use of the on-board sound chip.
Price...

Beyerdynamic DT880 Pros are just the best man, seriously.
>>54561305
buy the ones in your picture, you won't be dissapointed
Q701 are also good (have a pair myself), but their sound is not for everyone and can be picky about amps. So unless you've demo'ed them on your existing or potential equipment, I wouldn't go that route
>>54561562
Unfortunately I won't be able to demo them for gaming performance as these are mostly sold in music enthusiast stores. I am convinced through the reviews that the Fidelios pack the highest quality sound. However I am not so sure about the positional sound for FPS games as I did not find any comprehensive review on the gaming performance of these pairs.
