Does anyone on /g/ use a flip phone or any not smartphone phone aka dumbphone.

I do but very rarely since you are still being tracked when you carry it around. I'd rather have no phone at all but the fucking mobile phone industry destroyed pay/emergency phones.

Not to the extend google with android or apple with iphone tracks you.

If I could get a 4G dumbphone with a QWERTY keyboard and capable of Wi-Fi tethering I probably would switch to it

>11 year old kid phones up Louis Rossman the electronic board repair guy and gives him a fluent and logical diagnosis of what's wrong with his own motherboard, citing components and pathways and everything he learned from the board repair YT videos, in a way that a lot of tech field workers and graduated tech students don't have the mental capacity to do

>meanwhile, this grown up retard who has the mental capacity beneath an 11 year old finds it too hard to take a day off to google up how to build a desktop computer, and google up some basic articles that overview what each hardware component does, how they interact, and what too look for when buying your gaymer Lego Blocks to assemble

I-w- what?

>W-w-what? Does this guy have the brain of a pig?
In defense of Mr. Pig-Brain, the manuals that come with hardware these days (or at least all the ones I've seen) are poorly written. Although, it's still a poor excuse when you consider the number of guides and tutorials on the internet.
>>
it's not as easy as some of you fags would have complete newbs on the subject believe it is

there is plenty of research that should be done before assembling your own system - especially if you want to keep a good price/ performance ratio

also nobody warned me of just how fucking awful installing the CPU unto the motherboard was going to sound and feel like

Other business laptops are also welcome in /tpg/ (e.g. Dell Latitude/Precision, HP EliteBook/ZBook).
----
If you're looking for purchase advice, READ THE BUYERS GUIDE FIRST. Then post, stating budget and requirements (e.g. size and performance).
Don't buy anything OTHER THAN T, X AND W/P SERIES if you want the Real ThinkPad Experienceâ„¢

Recommended models:
T420 - 14", normal size
X220 - 12.5", ultraportable
----
Why ThinkPad? (also applies to other business laptops)
>Used machines are plentiful and cheap.
>Excellent keyboards - tactile feel and quiet.
>Great durability: chassis uses a magnesium rollcage for structural integrity, with high quality plastic body panels.
>Utilitarian design: e.g. indicator LEDs, 7 row keyboard layout on older models.
>Docking stations that easily turns your laptop into a desktop.
>Easy to repair, upgrade and maintain thanks to readily available service manuals for every model. Spare parts are easy and cheap to obtain.
>The best trackpoint (that red thing in the middle of the keyboard). Great for those who type a lot or hate swiping their fingers all over a touchpad.
>Excellent GNU/Linux & *BSD support.

I heard the T460s doesn't have great battery life and you can get both with pretty much the same features.

Well good I can start fresh

Been out of the smartphone game for 2 years now.
Loved my note 2, but didn't lose any sleep over it.

Are Samsung galaxy note 4s still worth getting?
They don't cost a fortune, and do what I liked in my old phone but better.
I'm sure there's better choices though, there's so many fucking phones now.

Anyone remember how long before it was leaked that the iPhone 7 wouldn't have a headphone jack, that anon posted "the only thing keeping phones from getting thinner is the headphone jack" threads every day? What the fuck was that about?

I think it had to do with the thickness of a 3.5mm jack and how that would prevent a phone from getting thinner than 3.5mm
>>
>>55522594
Well obviously, but it's like he had some type of inside info long before inside info about the iPhone 7 started coming out. It's like he was trying to use /g/ to prime people to the idea of a 3.5mm-jackless phone.

3.6mm at least to account for the jack well and phone itsself
