What is the most effective steps that someone who is not technologically gifted can easily follow to obtain maximum security against hackers?

What I can think of is,

1. Use Linux or Mac OS. Avoid Windows.
2. Do not install what you do not trust: Common Sense 2016.
3. Do not connect to suspicious networks.
4. ...

Please expound on this list. Keep adding entries you can think of.
I will make the end result of the list into pastebin.
Then we can just give the link to newbies who come here crying asking for tech support.

Let's go.

Yes, the main reason I started using Linux if because I got pwned. When I already was on Linux I got craaazy and downloaded everthing I could because it was retard easy and very safe. Even connecting to other networks was relatevly safe, IF you have hardened your browser.

So I would advice.

1. Get Linux.
2. Get Firefox addons.

1 & 2 are the same thing.

hey /g/uys,

could you suggest java books for a c++ developers?
6 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
can't really think of a textbook that has an angle for C++ developers. nor can i think of a reason why you would need one. Should be good to go with any textbook fammo as it will be the familiar C syntax you know and love. If you are starting fresh with Java I'd recommend to approach it learning Java 8. Java 8 in Action is a textbook I used to learn the Java 8 stuff and it should be good for someone new to the Java world.

Also next time consider checking the wiki first or posting in the "Questions that don't deserve their own thread" which should always be up (current one is here: >>55220943)

Have a good day anon

Using x86_64 from https://mpv.srsfckn.biz here

It's pretty much the only player that can play 1080p stuff with fancy subs on this laptop without completely shitting itself.

thats just a tiny # in the tray displaying the GPU temp. BHonestly i want to see the CPU temp primarily but I prefer the temps off all the components up in the corner like I can with Rivatuner.,..

So if /g/ likes Richard Stallman, even if it is on an ironic-unironic spectrum, how come you guys use non-free linux distros.

This is a serious question. I see a lot of people running arch, debian, or ubuntu but none running blag or ututo. Does no one on this board care about truly free software?

I unironnicaly (?) care about it, except nonfree JS, I use Trisquel.

I, for one, like and try to stick more often than not to what RMS says, because he is right in so many aspects, but, when functionalty comes into play we end up crashing with that wall that says: Hey you are not a emeritus phd doctor who travels around the world giving lectures and sleeping in followers couches.

Its because pacman is an efficiently made program with superior logistics and organization compared to apt.

this movie really highlights how irrelevant intelligence is for survival

what do you expect should change? technological progress is not necessary but increases chances for survival (of the species) in the long run. for the longest time in human history there was only a really slow progress. realistically, we could stall for 10000 years and nothing would change.

I mean it's not a terrible thing to do. Anything you type into the address bar is saved to the auto recommendations. I find it annoying when I'm typing a URL in and see search suggestions, so I never use the address bar to search google.

Here's some interesting information /g/.

If the OC leaks about the 480 are true and you can get 1.6GHz on stock cooler (around 25% performance increase), and the non OCed card is around 980 performance, then if you take the frame rates of the 980 in pic related and add 25% of that number on, then the result is 90% of the 1070's performance.

This is just speculation on speculation though, so take it as you will.
