Why would you buy anything BUT an Intel SSD?
Is it worth saving a couple jewros and having a trolo-lo-lo YOLO controller?
Why would anyone in their right mind get a OCZ, A-Data (Silicon Motion), Patriot (Phison), Kingston (Sandforce), Crucial (Marvel, Silicon Motion), Sanddisk, Samsung or any other of those shits?
Do you even remotely care about your data? Or are you retarded?
Intel shill pls go
I've had my SSD for 2 years now and it works fine, i think i'll be okay senpai.
I have a toshiba drive, kingston drive, and a samsung drive. None have died, all work perfectly.
I guess the sticker looks pretty nice. That is the only difference, right?
I have a question, how to maximize Macbook's battery lifespan? I mean, should I let the plug stay there or disconnect when its full? Also what percentage should I let my battery fall down to before I charge it back?
This is really confusing, some said I should disconnect their computer from the mains power supply, some said dont. Help me.
haaaaaaaaaaaaaalp
limit your charge cycles to maximize your battery life.
or destroy your battery in 1 year and AppleCare that shit.
>>51665945
Don't let your battery fall below 17% charge. That's the point where the jews at Apple start to deliberately sabotage your battery life because you're a "power user."
At the same time, don't let it get about 76%, because Apple's firmware will think you are always on the charger and boost performance by fucking your battery over.
Don't disconnect the computer from the mains power supply.
Hope this helps!
Old thread is slowing down.
Intended for users of all levels, including absolute beginners.
There are three ways to try GNU plus Linux, you can:
1) Install a GNU plus Linux OS on a VM (Virtual Machine/VirtualBox) for "safety purposes"
2) Use the Live ISO directly without installing anything, that way, you can get a "full GNU plus Linux experience".
3) Go balls deep and overwrite everything with GNU plus Linux (very recommended, for your freedom)
If you are serious about switching to GNU plus Linux and if you have Windows dual-booted (recommended for pure newbies),
we recommend you use it exclusively for 2 weeks, and avoid Windows dual booting for that period of time, or it's
likely you will start retreating back to windows instead of getting used to GNU plus Linux as your new home and working on
making it feel the way you want it.

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you’re referring to as fedora-wearing scrubs, are in fact, neckbeards, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, 23 year old bums living in their mothers basement plus dank memes. A neckbeard is not a man itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning Mountain Dew ecosystem.
I'm a web developer who has ended up taking on more sysadmin-like responsibilities over the years. So I've picked up a decent amount of know-how from setting up web servers and debugging issues with them, but I've never run Linux as a desktop OS (at least not long term).
I'm thinking using it on a laptop day-to-day will expose me to new problems and solutions to them. What distro should I try out though? I use mostly CentOS in my work, so perhaps Fedora? Or maybe I could get more out of it using Arch, but I don't know how much of a time investment that would be. Or should I go for a distro that's actually designed for desktops?
Hey /g/.
I have this shell script that takes music from /playlist, then plays it, and then moves it into /played.
It is working fine but how do I make it so that the loop ends when /playlist is empty?#!/bin/sh
echo "Starting to play music"
cd ./playlist
pwd
while [ ]
do
SONG=$(ls -r | tail -n 1)
echo $SONG
sleep 3s
mplayer /var/www/html/vault/drive1/audio/playlist/$SONG
echo "Moving" $SONG
mv $SONG /var/www/html/vault/drive1/audio/played/
echo "----Next----"
done
echo "Finished, out of fresh music."
forgive me i'm not familiar with the syntax and shit for shellscript, but couldn't you just do something like count the files in your folder and if it is == 0 do something
check out http://stackoverflow.com/questions/13727069/count-files-and-directories-using-shell-script

Or something like this. Use google m8.

>>51665770
It has rubber grips which you will not like if you have sweaty hands.
It's expensive because of the unnecessarily high DPI.
There are better ergonomic right handed mice if you're into that kinda stuff.
>>51665956
So much this.
I don't have sweaty and this bothered me the most with the Sharkoon Drakonia. The rippled rubber feels DISGUSTING.
Fucking normies have ruined Linux
>2004 Ubuntu is released and many normies move to Linux
>2006 Mint is released and even more normies move to Linux
>4/8/2014 Windows XP's support is terminated and a horrifying wave of normies move to Linux
>GNOME 3, systemd, Cinnamon, every fucking normie-tier shitprogram gains popularity in the Linux-world
>2012 Steam is released for Linux NO WHAT THE FUCK STAHP IT
>2012-2015 more and more games for Linux
>AMD and NVidia focus more on Linux drivers
>sublime and atom editors are now more popular than Vim
In the 90s normies ruined the internet and now they've ruined Linux. I already switched some of my
machines to run FreeBSD because of this normie invasion a couple of years ago but now I've noticed that
more and more of these ex-Linux hipster normies are switching to PC-BSD. A few years from now and they
will ruin FreeBSD too. I guess the only solution is to switch to oldschool NetBSD. That will be free of normies
for many years to come.

tl;dr: can the precision 690 boot with a PCI graphics card or does it HAVE to be PCI-E?
Clear the bios

I tried. I took the power off, and the battery out for over 6hrs and let it sit. Placed the jumper off PSWD and on RSTCMS for that time too. Nothing...

Keyboard light up? if so mash the usual bios keys and hope for the best, or if it has a working install on it does it make any sounds with speakers plugged in?

I'm waiting for a bunch of NFC stickers, can't wait to stick them all around the house to automatically do shit with my phone and tasker
>>51665304
what do you do with them? Give me some examples. I'm curious.
>>51665343
A sticker on the door to disable wifi and enable 4G when I go out
A sticker in the car to enable/disable driving mode (the phone speaks messages and stuff, lately I haven't been bothering toggling it manually)
A sticker at work to put the phone in silent mode and automatically connect to the wifi and the opposite if it's enabled
Since I have two different wifi routers in my house I'll stick two stickers on both sides of the house to automatically connect to the correct router
Then if I get off my ass and I actually start doing something with my arduinos I could automate some actual shit in my house but I still haven't thought of anything.
basically NFC tags are just a way to toggle stuff that I could toggle manually from the phone but I'm too lazy to do every time, just need to swipe the phone over the sticker and it's done

>>51665107
Follow the yellow brick road.
Depends on which network you wish to access. Tor is a different network than I2P for instance. You could try the Tor Browser to visit .onion domains https://www.torproject.org/download/download-easy.html.en while using Tor you can still access the regular World Wide Web of course.
